I was just wondering... is it illegal to park your bike in designated car parking spots (not that there was a sign that said 'CARS ONLY'... there was a designated motorcycle area but it was full, I even took a picture). I'm pretty sure according to california law it is perfectly legal... but I definitely got a ticket.

This was in Santa Cruz, California btw.

I would probably argue this one. Just because motorcycles have a designated parking area, doesn't mean they can't be parked anywhere else. It just means other vehicles can't park in the motorcycle parking. That is, unless otherwise stated, which you said it wasn't. You might want to look up the specific violation written on the ticket and see if you can't find some more information on this. Seems pretty shady to me, like the ticketing officer just decided to slap you with it because they doubted you would contest/pay it.

I've already contested the ticket... still waiting for a response (other than 'The SC Police has received your complaint' email). It has been three or four days and I assume they get thousands of these contests so I'm not holding my breath.

Every time I see some faggot's bike taking up a parking spot, I fight the urge to kick it over, tether it securely to my car and drag it out of the way so I can park there.

Im sure it's perfectly legal if there was no other "bike only" places. Motor bike is 2 wheels, car is 4......takes up the same space. Should be giving you a medal for saving space.

I have parked a car & trailer on two parking spots at the same time & never had a problem, just put money in both meters.

Though just last week I saw a motorbike get a $40 ticket for parking on a footpath (in a place where no one could actually walk mind you)
