Go for it. I wear my eight eyes as dress shoes all the time, even with dresses and shit. Depending on the outfit you can make them work.

No offense, but just because you do it doesn't really make it socially acceptable. One might say who the fuck cares what is "socially acceptable", but he wouldn't be asking if he didn't care.

Also, I say no way. Even actual dress shoes that are a bit chunky look shitty, so some Doc Martens are a long stretch, save you aren't attending some type of skinhead ball.

I'm going with these: http://www.softmoc.com/ca/systemshow-item_I146001002

I have a pair of well worn 3 year old Docs at the moment that i've been wearing to formal occasions without any comments.

It's not so much about "socially acceptable" but I'd rather have a single pair of shoes that can be worn anywhere and is comfortable. I hate regular dress shoes. dispizzzzeee!

PS: I tried them on at a store today and they looked fine. just couldn't find the right size.

it sounds like you already knew the answer to your question? you were gonna buy them no matter what we said, so why even post?

I say no. Dress shoes are meant to be flashy or business-like, not like the Jeep company's spin-off shoe brand. I'd probably stick to wearing them casually (although I wouldn't) or on the job if you work ze construction or sumthing.

I dont see why they wouldnt. I wear these (http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Home/Law-Enforcement/Boots/ATAC-8-Side-Zip-Boot/D/30100/P/1:100:10000:10700/I/12001) as formal shoes (although mine are dirty and beat to hell)

Never. They stick out as boots a mile off. You should see what I wear to work, Grey suit, White shirt, Black & White Tie, Black trainers. I'm handsome enough to pull it off.

You shouldn't be wearing trainers with a suit and tie. I vote fail.
