Are there any places in the world where it's legal for two people to fight to the death for the purpose of competition or entertainment? A place like that could settle a lot of arguments about which weapons and martial arts are more effective.

International Waters are subject to maritime law if your on a boat.

Yeah, you are going to be charged by the country where the boat is registered.
There is trial by combat, however I doubt you could convince any judge to let that happen.

You do know that you're talking about a duel, right? As in, take a pistol, walk ten paces, turn and fire.
They need to bring that back in lieu of small claims court. And put it on Fox. Then there would be something worth watching on television.

I do know that if both parties consent to a fight, just for the sake of a fight or winning a price, it is legal. That's why boxing matches and martial arts aren't illegal. As long as it isn't to the death perse you can make it stick. Like MMA where the are instances where someone dies of their injuries.

You're already at the perfect place to dump the body though so I doubt you'd be charged, unless someone filed a missing persons and they knew the last place the person was seen was on your boat headed to international waters.

You make an error in judgement. You mix up enforcement with legality. Indeed it would be difficult to enforce maritime law in such a case but that doesn't mean its legal to do. The OP asked for LEGAL fights specifically.

In int waters some Chinese pirates went all midieval on some shipping crew and dumped the bodys overboard, like 20 days later the government caught up to them and executed all of them on national TV. International waters aren't all that hard to enforce, the investigating body just has to be really pissed off.

Enforcement is Legality, if you never get caught you never did anything wrong ;) . And i suggest taking my tip from that assassination thread and sail out with a large freezer and wood chipper :D .

"In December 2002, a 60-year-old mechanic named Leon Humphreys was fined £25 for failing to notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency that he had removed his Suzuki motorcycle from road usage. He refused to pay and claimed that he had the right, under medieval law, to choose a trial by combat with a "champion" nominated by the DVLA. This claim was denied by a court of magistrates in Bury St Edmunds, and he was further fined.[1]"
I lol'd.
Classic pugilism in the 1700's. No wait, that was illegal. I think. No wait I don't know.

As I've been lead to believe, it's legal to fight to the death in Paraguay as long as both people are registered blood donors. Not sure how much truth there is to this though
