Air Arms s410 Fac version-pcp .22 cal 280 meter per second

If we watch the video he shows what pelets he is using for this "200 meter shot". They are "diablo Baracuda Extra Heavy".

If you google the pelet type you find that it weighs 21 grains.

So we run a conversion and get 787.401575 ft / s .

How ever I can not find what weight pellet they were using to get that velocity.

For kicks, I'll assume it was with a baracuda extra heavy.

Regardless, the pellet would be subsonic. The speed of sound at sea level is 1116.43701 ft/s

I just ran out of time, but I was going to see if I could calculate the ballistics of that pellet.

Either way I'm having a tough time swallowing that he made multiple subsonic hits with a pellet that light at 200 meters. Anyone who has shot a rifle that goes subsonic well before 800 yards knows that the bullet becomes very affected by wind and eventually starts tumbling send all acuuracy out the window.

So, What do you think?

I've shot 7.9 grains at 650 feet per second (Benjamin Sheridan 397's actual velocity) at 100 yards and got hits on paper plates, for what that's worth.

But right now I got Man on Fire loading from watch-movies.net, so I can't watch anything from youtube as my computer is too slow.

However, I'd say 200 yards IS possible with that setup.

But possible doesn't equal effective.

He is playing it off as if it was consitant hit after hit shattering beer bottles. My friend shoots at trash and bottles, but there have been many times where the pellet will punch a clean hole and stop inside the bottle.

The second thing that doesn't sit well with me is that there is literally no time inbetween the report of the air rifle, and the beer bottles shatterting.

The thrid thing is that if you watch the grass, bushes, and tree limbs, I'd estimate that there was a 10mph crosswind. That would be hell on a pellet that light that is subsonic.

I have shot a .22lr at 500 yards just dicking around at a local range after someone made a bet with my friend and I had to make the shot. Granted it took me two shots to get it in the 8 ring area, but the bullet was already tumbling, which was odd because you'd figure a high velocity .22 would stay supersonic for longer than that.

Could I repeat that shot on demand? Probably not.

If 200 yards is possible with consistant hits with a pellet rifle remind me to go get one and mount a scope on it so I can get the long range prinicpals in a much shorter space.

The farthest accurate shots I've taken with my .177 Sheridan are around 100 mts. I would say it is possible, but it would take a lot of practice.

Video might not be real but definitely possible, esp with those good pellets.

A High velocity .22 round (~1280fps) goes subsonic before it passes the 50 yard mark and if you look at a couple of ballistics tables you'll find that a subsonic will actually drop less than a High Velocity round using the same projectile over long range (100y-200y).

I made 100mt shots with the cheapest pellets out there so it is possible.
