A little background for you.
It is homecoming, and I am hammered. I get several calls and voicemails from my mother whose calls I am obviously dodging because I'm trashed and it's 1 pm. The voicemails plead and beg me to call bag in between frantic sobs and barely decipherable phrases like "I didn't think it was going to end like this..." at this point I think my dad is fucking dead or something so I call back and try to put on a mask of sobriety... turns out that my mom called my aunt (her sister) and flew off the fucking handle about why she should vote for Obama and how much of an idiot Sarah Palin is for not knowing what the Bush Doctrine consisted of etc. etc.
My aunt was not having any of that shit because my mom is the only liberal in a family of catholic staunch conservatives. So right after my aunt tells my mom to go fuck herself and not call her again, my mom in a desperation move says my sister and I share her views...not sure why she thinks that would change her sisters mind. Maybe she just wanted to throw us under the fucking bus with her. So my aunt hung up on my mom and told my grandparents what just conspired, they are so pissed about it they are talking about taking my mom out of their will and shit like that.
How do I get back in their good graces?
tl;dr
my mom pissed off my aunt talking about politics and now we're pariahs among the extended family.

Get in good graces with a band of staunch conservatives? You don't need them. Anyways move this to spurious or something, this is a personal issue not a political one.

It's best not to get in good graces with anyone who is too stupid to admit they might be wrong.

This.
Your mother is a nigger-loving slut for supporting Obama.

At least "nigger-loving sluts" actually get a decent dicking. Think there's enough viagra in the world to let McCain gather enough wood to give the SarahCuda a good seeing to?

Wow, that was surprisingly good. At least the McCain campaign has been good for comedians. I mean, sure, they'll come up with something to say about Obama, but if Obama wins I guarantee you'll see a lot of the passion go out of the commentary and jokes. He just provides weaker material.
Also, this thread is now about the interrelation between this election and political comedy. Anyone catch the SNL opener tonight? I busted up at the "talent portion" joke.

Yeah I saw that, "Maverick" got to me since I had seen that Tonight Show episode earlier. I remember watching the debate and just waiting and waiting for Biden to call her on it (that or "greed and corruption on Wall Street") and never seeing it. :(

He couldn't really. He had to play it completely factually, and rely on pundits to dissect her afterwards.

The "Biden-style" joke is giving me an irresistible desire to watch a certain episode of 30 rock.

I'm sorry Overcast of what happened to you and your mother. It's sad that in this day and age differing political views can tear families apart. Families should always come before politics.
Tell both your mother and your extended family off for dragging you and your sister into their little political bitchfest.
If they can't respect that, fuck their good graces.

Getting torn apart by two sides of the same coin? Sad. Everyone is supported by wall street and backed by the bankers, it's all the same and only the peasants can't seem to see that. Game......blouses!
