So I've got a laptop that apparently used to be a company work computer and is password protected as such. I have no idea of the password and cannot seem to get through in safe mode or as 'administrator' (Yes, I suck at computers), and I've done some googling and all of it seems to be based around getting by the login screen in the first place.

I know this is probably not that hard but can anybody tell me how to (short of re-writing the hard drive) get by the password??

EDIT: Shit yeah this should probably be in T&T eh? Lil' help plz??

No, this should NOT be in T&T.

This is the right forum for hacking into the box. First thing's first -- use another machine to download the Ophcrack LiveCD. There should be instructions how to use it -- it breaks Windows passwords rather quickly.

If you don't want to do that but have a CD or floppy disk available, there's http://www.loginrecovery.com/ -- their free service promises to crack more than 98% of Windows passwords within 2 days, and within a couple hours if you're willing to pay.

There's a couple options; I'm sure some more will be mentioned.

Wrote a tutorial for this in the sticky.

Gotta love ophcrack.
