A few months ago I recieved 'treatment' for depression from a grossly incompetant therapist (this has already been said by psychologists I've spoken with, it's not just my opinion, they said they could have the therapists liscence taken but I feel that does nothing to compensate for the damages caused)

After the treatment my condition has become much more severe and I may have dissocoiative personality disorder. I haven't been able to get an appointment with a psychologist to specefically adress this but to me it's obvious this was directly caused by the treatment I recieved. There are physiological symptoms too, I will stay up all night (it's not rare for me to be up 4-5 days in a row on 2-3 hours sleep) and it's not uncommon for me to regurgitate after eating extremely small meals because memories of the treatment create immense stress, this only began happening after the treatment I recieved. Is there anything I can do about this? I just moved to a new city and my car is totaled so I figured I would ask here first because getting to a lawyer isn't that convinient right now. I'm very low on cash and it sickens me that I PAID someone to do this to me, on top of that I have to pay additional medical fees to help with the symptoms caused by that treatment, let alone the initial symptoms I had to start out with.

Difficult matter. There has to be proof of a clinically recognisable condition derived from malconduct in order to charge. So you will need to see an expert and have him testify for you.

That said you describe your symptoms to be quite servere. 2-3 hours sleep a week, deep depression, dissocietive disorder. You shouldn't be able to write coherent sentences anymore.

Depends on what the treatment was.

Don't think your going to get millions of dollars out of it if you go ahead.

you see in the papers all the time about people getting these massive payouts.
what the papers don't report is that the client never see's even 1/3 of it.

I'm speaking from an Australian POV, I'm unsure of your case.

say you fall at work and crack your skull, you need to see specialists and all the other junk. you file a workers compensation case and all your medical expenses are payed for buy the state.

you then think, hey I can sue my boss, he was negligent in OH&S standards.

it all goes to court and you win, the money that is awarded covers all your medical, legal fees, and if you couldn't work in that time, the money you would have made.
there is pain and suffering ect, but that doesn't add up to much in the grand scheam of things.

All the other therapist and doctors you have seen after that are going to want there cut too, and once it goes to court the price for there services isn't cheap.
the money government spent on you seeing them has to be re payed to the government

I've got 2 close friends who have gone through something similar to above, one got a 7mill pay out, but he only saw about 85k, and can't do much for the rest of his life.

and in the end it is just there insurer who payes the money, not the person at fault, there premiums might just go up $1500 a year

What 'treatment' did you receive, if you don't mind me asking?

How on earth did he get a 7mill payout? o_O

he fell on his head due to workplace incompetence on his employers part.

neuro surgeon's, a team of specialists, staying in hospital for years, on going 24hr care it all add's up, that stuff isn't cheap. And once neglect has been established all the money the state has spent on your care is reimbursed to them via the payout, which comes from the employers insurance.

You have kids? If so then file for your therapy only and for financial aid to keep the living standards of your children up. Kids have a right to continue living at atleast the same standards. Then go to work anyway and earn double wages.

It was talk therapy from a psychologist. I wasn't sure if doctor reports that stated my conditions became worse /new conditions appeared after the treatment would hold in court? Again, I've talked to a psychologist and told him the details about the treatment I recieved and he was livid, I never mentioned court to him but I think he would be supportive. Also I don't have any kids.
