Sometimes they'll accept cigarettes instead of money as payment, and since I don't have a lot of money i started bringing cigarettes into school. Eventually, I picked up smoking as well so I could deal with the bullies. Yesterday, the principal saw me smoking a cigarette outside so randomly searched me and found a pack of cigs on me. My question is I'm gonna be applying for college at the end of this year and I was woundering if this would show up on my record. I am required to attend a drug and alcohol seminar which is at a county center on a school day, so I won't be going to school that day so I'll be missing school. But I don't think it counts as a suspension.

If it's not a official suspension, I don't think you'd even have to tell any colleges you're applying to about it. Even if it was a suspension, they'd just be like "oh ok, he got suspended for one day for having cigarettes." Not that big of a deal, man. It's cigarettes. You get to college, and half the students smoke anyway. I doubt anyone really believes they all started after they were 18.

If it's on your "permanent record" you have to mention it. There's a spot on the common app for it. If it was a short "day of reflection" or some shit, I think you're ok. I was suspended my senior year during Jan for violating drug/alcohol policy, and it really fucked me over.

You really need to talk to your school's college counselor though. S/he'll have the answer FOR SURE. I know mine helped me out alot.

It may just be cigarettes, but schools will see it as "disrespect for the drug/alcohol/tobacco policy." And if you're doing that, you might just start making crack in your dorm and selling it to the elementary school kids across the street. They don't want that shit at their university. Really fucked up situation, I know.

If no real hardcore disciplinary action was put on you you're mostly likely fine. :)

Heh, but if they somehow found out about that (maybe they would if you got in trouble again, for something common like drinking) and found out you lied on your application, that would probably be grounds for automatic expulsion.

Whether you put it down or not doesn't matter. Colleges look at your "record" and it's there. I guess I need to rephrase what I said earlier in that you don't "have" to put it down. The only reason you'd put it down is to "explain the situation" (i.e. rough time in your life and got into some trouble). That tends to look better than saying nothing at all.

You'll get into schools fine, you just won't be going to Harvard, that's all. I hated college admissions anyway. It's all just a dick sizing contest....whoever has the most extracurricular activities and bent over the farthest.

get a friend to videotape the bullying then tell the person you'll give the video to ur principle if they don't stop. if they do it again, then get in trouble, then use violence, put metal spikes all over yourself (make them for extra points), including the knuckles of your gloves on the outside of your arms, then see if he wants to fuck with you. that's fucking ridiculous to let someone make you spend your time to make money to buy shit to give to them, or for them to talk bullshit that you have to hear. it's fucking feudalism

I go to Vanderbilt medical and I got expelled from high school eventually for an accumulation of drug policy violations. Before this I was in MTSU. Neither of these schools asked or said anything about my "permanent record".
