You will need to get a coupling to go on the end of the barell, as well as a .30 suppressor. I hope you realise it wont silence it, but will suppress the noise of the muzzle blast.

Registration in michigan is for handguns only.

Lol@ "silencer" for a mosin-nagant of all things.

Do remember that Russian .30cal rounds tend to be a bit larger than American cartridges. More like 7.9mm than 7.62. Probably won't be an issue with most suppressors, but it's worth considering.

True dat. My dissection of a ten round sample of Albanian surplus revealed the average bullet diametre was 7.868mm, full restults of other measurements can be seen here:

Nice write-up Meph, I quite enjoyed reading that. New bookmark, too. :p

I have just designed a muzzle adaptor coupling for Savage's Mosin. If he gives his permission and there's enough interest I will post the design on here.

You don't need my permission ;) .

91/30's may have slightly different dimentions tho.

you'd have to do handloading. I think a nagant would be kinda cool with a silencer actually.

No, the idea is to suppress it to a level that is acceptable to fire without hearing protection (e.g Hunting) without going deaf for three days and suffering permanent hearing loss, i talk from experiacne trust me. Sub-sonic rounds, although something cool to play with, would make it less effective than a 9mm subsonic Ball round which is bad news for a hunter.

I'd like to add at this point that i see outlawing suppressors is like outlawing sunglasses beause a criminal MIGHT use it to conceal his identity and escape from a crime un-punished. Shooters and especially hunters that tend to fire off multiple shots in one hunt where ear protection can't practically be worn NEED them to prevent hearing loss.

Edit: They also reduce recoil like any muzzle break would which would prevent broken bones like colar bones and noses.....once again i speak from experience :D .
