Been thinking alot lately and looking at american muscle cars (boo I hear you say), since they are pretty hard to come by in the UK, how much would one cost to get imported to the UK? And what are good american muscle cars? new or a few years old. Been looking at a few, but need outside opinions.

Thanks.

Somebody doesn't get sarcasm...

I'm not sure how much it'd be to import a car to the UK. What're you looking at? I personally like the new challengers and camaros.

Save your money and get a VXR or whatever you're calling Monaros, then get the real holden badging.

There's a proper car.

Yeah I've been looking at them camaros, they are nice.

Seen the VXR Monaro, nice car, given its pricetag in the UK its outside my price range, £30.000 is about $55.000, can get a nice american car for about $30.000...hence why i'm asking how much import costs would be. :)

Something between five and ten grand plus duty since its new.

Do yourself a favour and get the Monaro.

Mr Smith

monaros are hot.

they dont make them anymore.

the VXR's are holden astras.

the VXR8 is a rebadged V8 commodore.

why go american?

you'll only get shit.

go australian.

or a turboed six falcon, if you are into that sort of thing.

fuck running a v8 on british petrol prices though.

I'm curious as to why holden's V8 is 0.8L bigger than the XR8's yet only generates 2kw more.

6.0 to 5.4?

I thought they came up with a new 6.2?

XR8s sound better.

For the shipping, probably £2000 - £3000. Then more for registration, making the car road legal, etc. There are groups that do it for you, to save you the hassle.

So what? Horsepower per litre showdowns, used in nerve grating regularity, are so bullshit. The factors that actually matter are numerous, and HP/L isn't one of them. You guys should know better.

You've missed the point.

The Ford vs holden pissing contest goes on POWAH.

Smitty, I hope you didn't spend too much on your lawyer? You'll probably get a fine and demerits only.

Didn't you say the Holdan had more power? Snookered.

 What?

I did a sick tokyo drift in my dads V8 and got caught lol.

Reckless driving is a jailable offence and/or loss of license for 18 months. I wouldn't have been jailed for it obviously but 18 months is a long time. And I only have one point left so either way I lose my license, but this it's only for 3 months.

haha the lawyer is one of my dad's work colleagues so it's a bit under the table but the guys not a cheap solicitor.

and they can't confiscate the car :D

I thought you had to maim someone to be up for negligent driving (and that it was jailtime). Is that not how it works there? What's the difference between Culpable, Negligent, Reckless and Furious?

^ They are sick of bogans doing burnouts, so they are rather harsh now :(

or a turboed six falcon, if you are into that sort of thing.

80% of peak torque from 1250rpms = that sort of thing.

Fuck getting V8s just because they are V8s.

Mr Smith
2008-10-17, 09:13
Neg is doing something wrong unintentionally, reckless is doing somehting wrong intentionally.

I would have gotten a 'furious' charge but my drift wasn't quite long enough.

It's not really a typical bogan car, it's a VZ SS that sits quiet nicely and is rather clean, no spoiler, nice set of 5 spoke 19's on it. Bogans drive VN/VR commodores with stockies and S13 silvias.

culpable driving is when you kill someone i think.
