I had to undergo an emergency appendectomy on Monday (10/13/08), and will be out of school for about a week. I faxed all the necessary documents to the Dean of undergraduates and notified my professors so the absences don't "count" against me. I have this one professor who I cannot fucking stand. In her syllabus, which I read and signed, it says that perfect attendance would exempt a student from having to take the final exam. She emailed me saying that although my absences were excused (with a note from a physician and accepted by the dean), I was not excused from her final because I don't have perfect attendance.
It seems to me like I'm being penalized for my ailment. Is there any type of statute or case law that could apply in this type of scenario?
