I've been upgrading my ford ranger 4.0L and apparently it's the same engine used in baja trucks. Many of them are running at 700hp. How are they getting that much. I already have a supercharger, aftermarket ignition system, and dual catback exaust. It's a 94' and has a throttle body.

i dont see too many modified v-6 rangers out there, the fast ones i've seen have the 5.0 mustang motor in them. i heard its about $1-1.7k to to do depending on how much you get the motor for. how much boost are you pushing in that thing?

what kind of blower are u using? i've seen a vortech blown 4.0 stang running 9's i believe. However that was probly too much boost for a daily driver.
Those Baja trucks are running engines that have been professionally built from the block up and cost thousands upon thousands of dollars.
with enough money any engine can make rediculous HP numbers. IIRC the Ecotec 4 banger GM uses can be built up to over 1k HP in drag race trim.
you can either pull the motor and rebuild it with aftermarket heads, crank, cam (s),pistons,rods,headers,etc..... or you could swap in a 4.6 or 5.0L V-8.
Its all going to depend on how much the conversion kit is going to cost. you'll need tranny adapters(possibly a different tranny), new motor mounts, and a completely new ECU and wiring harness for the new engine just for starters.
