I don't know about Australia, but in America most people do not have a duty to report a crime. However I'm sure you would be arrested and probably prosecuted for something. Continuing to live with a person who engages in that type of illegal activity is a big risk, even in America.

I'd tell your friend to be very careful about where he puts his stuff and what he touches.

If your friends place gets raided he could be fucked. If the cops can prove he knew about the grow operation then they could charge him with the same crimes as the guy who was doing the growing.

Or the roommate could just say all the plants are your friends. just because he can pass a drug test does not mean that he does not grow.

I'm pretty sure that by paying rent on a place where he knows drug production is occurring he's an accessory to the crime. He'd have to show that he had no knowledge of the illegal activity to get an acquittal.

I think the same thing would apply for the selling, but he is less likely to be charged and convicted, all he has to do is disown any knowledge of the selling of drugs.

I think everyone in the building where the weed is being grown is potentially facing jail time.
