Ok,so im 21 years old and im trying to enlist in the US Army.Back when i had just 18,i was hanging with the wrong crowds, smoking weed.I got in trouble once, only possesion of marijuana charge.Basically what happened was that the first time i got busted for having weed and it was only misdemeanor,I hired a lawyer and plead guilty, paid a fine.

The cops were watching my group of friends, and seeing as one charge wasn't enough, they pushed some COMPLETELY bogus ones on me
(said they knocked on my door, asked if i had drugs, and I gave them weed, codeine, and pills) even though it never happened AT ALL.We went to court,I couldn't afford another lawyer so I used a public defender. They had no evidence whatsoever (bags, camera footage, arrest records or anything) but my PD did nothing. They offered that if I plead guilty to the possesion of marijuana charge that they would drop the felonies.

I did so and stayed out of trouble since. Now while trying to enlist they require information on prior arrests. It was no problem but the army is telling me that since i plead guilty to get the felonies dropped, the army looks as it like I plead guilty to ALL of them including the felonies. He told me the only way I will be able to join is if I get my record Federally Expunged.I do not know how to do this or what steps I need to take,or how long does this take?
Any advice would be VERY helpful and I appreciate it.

I read into the matter and concluded that there are specialized Law firms dealing with Federal Expungement. Your best bet is to find one in your state and hire them. I bet they will cost you so you might want your parents to back you up or something.

Yeah, you need to get a lawyer who's familiar with that.

Isn't that such bullshit though? Getting them expunged from your record doesn't change the fact you still possessed marijuana at one time, and plead guilty to it as well and paid a fine or whatever. I mean, it clears your record but you still DID IT, so how does it make you any better than someone who hasn't had their weed conviction expunged? Oh but it does somehow. It's just going to be a pain in your ass and some lawyer/court fees to get it magically expunged. Not like the charge should even fucking matter, especially in this day and age. The army should be sucking people's dick to join with what's going on now, not turning people away because "omfg! marijuana possession conviction a couple years ago!!!"
