Can you imagine if the presidential debates were held to the same standards? We'd have two completely different candidates. It was very refreshing to see someone get so logically owned on tv. This guy just wouldn't let her change the subject.

Every time I listen to Palin speak, I imagine myself as a line-Republican voter so its like she's right here jacking me off while telling me how great it is voting for Republicans. Then when I'm about t come I think of libs and niggers taking my income tax and spray it all over them.

I think of the Vice President as another member of the cabinet. They do provide advice. They do meet with foreign dignitaries as well as domestic interest groups and politicians. They make public appearances on the President's behalf.

Mathews is making it out to be like they just sit around drooling until a tie vote comes up in the Senate, or the President dies. That's ridiculous.

This clip is ridiculous. Chris Matthews doesn't allow that woman to speak.. obviously he owns her, by having no class. Just like O'Reilly and Olberman, these motherfuckers are simply entertainers with very little understanding of the constitutional issues they are supposedly "discussing,"

She said "IN CHARGE OF..."

Sure, Vice presidents mingle in Washington, and attempt to gain support, and engage in politics.

What they don't do, what the bitch in the vid, you, crazy hazy, cunts like you and most important Palin herself, do not seem to understand is that the VP is not IN CHARGE of the senate.

I personally do not believe Palin undertood this, though I THINK she MAY understand it now.

The McCain's aides first excuse that she was talking as if she were telling a 3rd grader, does not hold. She was talking to a grown women. Palin talks to everyone as if they were a third grader, b/c that is obviously her level of interpersonal communication.

If Palin accepted the fact she is stupid and clueless, she could at least use some subterfuge. She is clearly too stupid to accept that fact.

He let her speak.

She said Palin was explaining the job of a vice president to a child.

Chris pointed out she explained it to a grown women, on national tv news show, which is not watched by many children.

Certain things, simply cannot be defended, without looking stupid.

Look at you for example.

There's more than a few politicians that have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

I am talking about Chris Mathews' notion of what the job of a vice president is. He never brought up any of that shit, he only said "a vice president's job is to provide a deciding vote in a tie in the Senate, and to become president should the president die or leave office." Why didn't he acknowledge anything else a vice president does? Just because that is all that's in the constitution does not mean that is all that fills the day to day jobs of the vice president.

Yeah, Palin spoke incorrectly when she said "the vice president is in charge of the senate." Perhaps to her, "in charge" is synonymous with "presides over." And the constitution DOES allow that, and if a vice president really wanted to, they could preside over every senate meeting and just sit there and listen to the boring shit one would see on CSPAN-2. But in the modern era where a vice president has much more to do, they don't do that, and the most senior member of the majority party in the senate becomes the president pro tempor of the senate and they get the shitty job of listening to everyone bitch (the current one is Robert Byrd D-WV, and I'm sure he falls asleep frequently, as he is like 87). Though I do not know who sits and listens when they take the floor to bitch...there must be an assistant.

Both sides run their campaigns as tickets. They always seek to "balance the ticket." It may not be written down somewhere in clear terms, but we all just KNOW that a vice president is going to have an important position in a new administration and he/she will have an impact, even if a tie senate vote never happens or if the president doesn't die.

And lick my anus. McCain picking Palin as his running mate blew any chance of me voting for him. She should not be the candidate.

Yeah, it's possible. However, Palin talking about "[getting] in there with the Senators and [making] good policy changes" doesn't really help prove that notion.

generic angry reaction

When the fuck did I say I agreed with Palin's assessment of the job of the Vice President? NEVER.

Obviously she explained it in a foolish way that betrayed some of her ignorance of Washington. I simply said Chris Matthews was being a reactionary fool by dwelling on a minor detail and that this is typical of news-entertainers.

My personal opinion: the current Republican administration has MAJOR flaws in their interpretation of what is an acceptable role for the Vice President. Dick Cheney has arguably expanded the office more than any VP in history, and has taken an unprecedented role in formulating foreign policy, domestic policy (think National Energy Task Force), national security (Valerie Plame, FISA renewal... the list goes on).

And I have disagreed with this expansion of power of a part of the government that is in some ways even more unaccountable than the President himself.

So why don't you go ahead and read my post before you go all out with the generalizations. Just because I'm supporting McCain doesn't mean I'm going to defend every single thing Sarah Palin says, and you're not going to get me to do it.

I am talking about Chris Mathews' notion of what the job of a vice president is.

The question was not "What kind of additional stuff can a VP do if they so CHOSE".

The question was "Is the VP IN CHARGE OF the senate..."

The answer is a big fat no. Mathews beat this dead horse, b/c the McCain bimbo refused to grasp it.

No, the question was "what is the role of the vice president?" At times, he threw in "what is the role of the vice president under the Constitution?" which would arguably have a different, more narrow answer. The aide he was screaming at and cutting off didn't say "da VP is in charge of teh Senate lawls." She was trying to link Palin's fuckup with more of what a vice president actually does, that is not specifically in the Constitution.

The point was Mathews is not running for president so his petty debating skills don't matter.

People watch his loud ass show and decide how to vote (and think) based on it, so I think it does matter.
