im in riverside county, california

i got pulled over for turning left at a green light without an arrow, for failing to yield.

i failed to yield to a motorcycle cop, im an idiot, at first i was pissed thinking "i have green, why the fuck is this cop about to hit me?"

but anyway, it happened last night, so the citation hasn't been processed and i cant figure out what the penalty could be.

can anyone tell me what i might get? fine? license points? can i go to traffic school? i have a court date, but will i be able to deal with this without going to court? ive looked online for info, but cant find anything specific. are there any sites that could tell me the penalties for specific violations?

Once a case goes to court its all up to the judge's decision. Cops only gives fines up to a certain ammount. If your fine starts to exceed that ammount its automatically goes to court. Just show up, take the beating and explain that you didn't expect the officer to mean you had to stop since you hadn't realised your mistake yet. You were temporarily mistaken that the officer just wanted to overtake you.

They will offer you traffic school, most likely. Which is a good thing because it's a moving violation and those things will jack your insurance up like there's no tomorrow.

Just don't fuck up in court.
