Today is Mole Day! The date today is 10/23 which of course corresponds to Avagodro's number 6.022 x 10^23.

I remember back in high school my chemistry teacher celebrated Mole Day religiously, and we had a chemistry fun day to celebrate. He would make these "Highly Coveted Chemistry Chocolate Chip Cookies" using stoiciometric ingredients in the recipe. It was all good fun, and we really did have fun with chemistry back then. I remember one mole day i made a batch of black powder that had a mole's worth of carbon in it, and the other ingredients scaled proportionally to that. It was a lot of fun.

Who else knew it was mole day today?

Has anyone else ever celebrated it? What did you do?

A bunch of chemistry classes had mole projects where they had to put a mole (furry type) into something current
ex: millenium park becomes molenium park
sort of a stupid project

Yes, we too celebrate it religiously in my Adv. Chem class. I screenprinted shirts for it in art and everything, haha. And since our chem teacher gave us an assignment and left for the period, we drew this picture of him on our board in a lab coat with his foot on a dead mole, holding a shotgun with a bleeding hole in the mole's head. It was a very nice picture.

Ahhh good old Avogadro. He was an ugly man.
