Currently has a huge ass dent in the left rear quarter panel. Some dumbass Asian kid at my school backed into me while I was dropping a friend off. Luckily I wasn't moving at all, so his insurance is covering the whole thing. Fucking idiots that don't look when they back up...

by low boost I mean ~19psi.

(edit: with a well tuned timing map, it might make around 580WHP at 19psi. It all depends. It's never been anything but street tuned, so I only have guesstimations based on other cars with the same turbos and engine, power:weight ratios of cars I've raced + beaten, etc.)

High boost would be 30+.

It has: twin T3/T04B hybrid Garrett turbos with .48 A/R exhaust housings on a custom mandrel bent equal length T3/T4 header set with real TiAL 38mm wastegates.

I opted for the stage 3 wheel, so the only difference between my set and the ~800AWHP capable set was the .63 a/r exhaust, which I can swap out any time.

"The 5 of the top 10 Quickest ¼ mile ET 3000gt/stealth cars in the USA are running Dynamic Racing DR-800-up kits. That speaks for it’s self to the level of performance delivered by these kits."

That was before Matt Monett (owner of dynamic racing) made his DR-1300 kit and ran an 8.8 @ 166. On a stock block 3000GT with DR racing heads.

It has a custom fueling set up, with an aeromotive A1000 pump, custom sump system, -8 AN "True Bore" silicone coated hose leading to the Y, individual -6AN true bore feeds into the -6AN size custom fuel rail, 780CC injectors (69% duty cycle at 18psi of boost, and still plenty of fuel pressure overhead), dual -6AN from the pump feeds the second Y, goes through the aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, and back to the fuel tank via another -6AN line.
For tuning I'm running an AEM EMS which is a complete standalone engine management system, with an AEM dual UEGO wideband controller.

It has a custom PPE front mount intercooler kit, with an HKS super sequential "show off" valve, and an AEM intake air temp sensor, post intercooler.

I have a quaife limited slip differential in a rebuilt stock transmission. I'll upload pics of what I did to my original transmission in a few minutes.

This was a 2k-5k pull through second gear on flat ground. No wheel hop, no wheel spin. ~17psi of boost, if I remember right.

2-4k went okay.

Around 4.5k, it made peak torque and just fucking trashed this gear.

I think I hit close to 170mph, the first time I got it out on the highway and opened it up. That 600HP was without turbos or superchargers, on just pump gas. Thing looked like a total sleeper car, which is exactly what it was. I remember one time in that car, I blew the doors off a Rousch Mustang. BTW, I'm a machinist/welder/fabricator.

Maybe I'm quibbling, but can you really say that 19psi is "low" boost? Low for group B rally, maybe.... usually when people say low boost they're talking 10 psi or less.

Nothing particularly impressive, it's completely bog standard, cause I'm too skint to afford to do anything to it (although I graduate university this year, so I can get a real job. Look out for my 5.2 litre SD1 sometime in the next year hopefully!), but a 21 year old student paying £700 for a car that will do the 0-60mph dash in 7.5 seconds and hit 135mph I think is pretty decent.

Which is cool because otherwise I'd end up being a spannermonkey all my life, but on the other hand, it's a bit shit because I'll leave most of my friends and my girlfriend behind in York.

It's actually nothing to do with enginnering or anything. I'm doing (and don't laugh and call me a waste of time now, I've wanted to be a BBC cameraman since I was about 6) Media Production.

The paper I wrote (I realise you wrote your reply before I added my edit) was a research piece in the sense of proving we are able to research adequately for a TV production or something, but the brief was so open, we coould basically research and write about anything.

I'm sure there is plenty of garages that could take you in York still. Or go do an engineering course at Teesside uni. It is so easy to get into.

Nah not terribly interested in engineering. There are two different courses offered at Coventry for Automotive Design, one is aesthetically based, the other factors in ergonomics and engineering factors, I'd rather go for the second one.

The main reason for me moving back to live with my parents for six months or so is that if I stay in York, I'll just drink my way into another year of drinking. I dropped out of uni nearly a year ago with the idea of having a whole 18 months to do a decent portfolio and so far I've done nothing.

I used to have a 95 vr-4 but traded it for an sti. I really regret doing that. Maybe one day Ill buy another one. I had a little bit of money into it too. Stock rebuilt bottom and top end, 13g turbos, stillen downpipe, rear o2 eliminator, borla catback, 450cc injectors, dsm sidemounts, y pipe, open element filter, turboxs rfl bov, apexi safc2, greddy profec b spec II, aem uego, autometer boost and egt gauges, rps lightweight flywheel, rps 6 puck clutch, lightweight pulley kit. I blew an engine, a transmission, and 2 transfer cases on that car. part of me is glad its gone and the other part misses the car. It was among my favorites, it just had too many problems.

The rx7 is a turbo model. the FD didnt come with a naturally aspirated engine.

The DSM is my main focus at the moment. Im planning on putting about 7k into it this summer when I get my bonus. I might set the DSM up for drag and race the rx7 in autocross. We have a beautiful new track in northern utah that Ive been dying to drive on.

Ive owned a VR-4 in the past. I think your car is pretty nice. I still keep up with the 3/S community every so often. There arent many owners in my area though. Theres a guy nearby with a RHD conversion done to his.

Why just import one from Japan (or Australia)? Surely it's better to have the real thing than spend the money on some half arsed conversion.

SBS has started screening all of Louis's shows, which we never got until halfway through this year. So we've got 10 - 15 years worth of Louis Theroux stuff to watch. I watch them religiously (everything from Louis Theroux in San Quentin/Plastic surgery/etc to the Wacky weekends with those poofter faggot demo derby car racing homos. The older drivers are cool.) because they're fascinating, but Louis annoys me. He says and does dumb things, whinges too much, and acts like a pussy. I know it's part of what makes the show, and I like him and his unique brand of gonzo journalism, but i'd still beat him around a little bit so he hardenend the fuck up and got what was good for him.
