Whatever seasonings you like, and set to medium. I tend to prefer vegetable broth so it almost braises them. Usually, I'll toss in some carrots and potatoes as well.

Garlic, oregano, and basil immediately come to mind.

If you're REALLY being clever, you could dredge the chops in some seasoned flower before you put them down in the crock, which would help to thicken the broth into a bit of a gravy for you.

You should also brown the pork chops a bit in a frying pan. Pretty much every store bought sauce works well in a crock pot, but it's way more fun to make your own.

'course a dash of ketchup never hurt anyone..

It hurts me. Greatly. I despise ketchup.

Glad you remembered the browning part of things. Dredge, brown, then crock it up. Things will be tasty.

How could you hate ketchup? It's a simple ingredient, great for thickening things up and adding a bit of zing.

Season some the chops with salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, and ginger powder. Quickly brown the chops over high heat and remove them from the heat. In the slow cooker, put some pineapple rings(fresh or canned, doesn't matter) and some onion slices on the bottom. Put the chops on the layer of pineapple and onion, and add another layer of pineapple and onion over the chops.

Make a teriyaki sauce from soy and sugar(or buy a bottled teriyaki sauce) and add to the slow cooker.

Cook over low heat for five hours or so and serve over rice.

It's gross. Maybe it's because I eat the cheap, mass produced American versions, but it's not my thing.

Heinz 57, on the other hand, I love. Makes a great base for many, MANY sauces.

^ I know nothing of Heinz 57 but you should definitely check out "country ketchup." I was fortunate enough to try some at a friend's house whilst eating lamb burgers and it was quite good -- retained chunks of tomato within and also had a slightly spicy kick to it. Tasted quite swell!
