I used to be a super picky eater when I was younger, chicken schnitzel pretty much every day (homemade and i still love it now). I didn't eat many vegetables and never ate salad. I only ate tomatoes if the skin was peeled off.
I grew out of it when I was about 10/11. Now I eat pretty much any vegetable. I still don't eat much meat though - only a little beef/veal, no lamb or pork. Don't eat any seafood except for mussels (I've tried, I just don't like it).
So OI, were you a picky eater, are you still one?
Never have been and am not.
There's just certain foods I won't touch, though those are few and far in-between.
(The only vegetable I refuse to touch = beets.)
Not at all. I'll eat anything. Save meat, and raw tomatoes. Well, I guess being a vegetarian makes me a picky eater by default.

I'm glad Yoyo isn't around anymore..
"Picky eaters" are such bitches.
When people come to my house to eat, and they say something like "Eww", when I serve them something as normal as.... lamb, with asparagus, mashed potatoes, and an artichoke.. because they don't eat ANY of it..
It makes me want to get out my pistol and shoot them in the head.
In my experience so called 'picky' eaters are just complete bitches, in other ways as well. Being a 'picky eater' is a symptom of being a bitch in other areas of life.
NoSkills says he/she is no longer a picky eater... yet he/she doesn't eat ANY seafood? Because he/she doens't like 'it', because he/she has tried 'it'? How can you have tried all seafood? There are SOOO many different flavors!!
The worst thing about picky eaters is they usually prefer something like fast food to a delicious home cooked meal. MSG to the rescue.

Exactly!! It drives me crazy when I cook something great, and someone politely declines - then on the way home gets a cheeseburger.
One time I cooked amazing fajitas for a party. Everything you could want on them expertly cooked, as for meat.... we had some prawns, veal, and chicken. On girl just didn't like it, which I can't really complain about... and declined me fixing her anything else. I found out later that she was so in the mood for Mexican that when she ran to the store to get more beer halfway through the party... she stopped at TACO BELL.

^^^ I just don't bother with those people. Pull that kind of thing on me once, and you defiantly wont be getting dinner again.
I'll eat pretty much anything on my plate, except for two exceptions - capsicum and kalamata olives. I can deal with both in small amounts, like being chopped finely and added to a tomato based pasta sauce. But I can't stand large chunks of either of them.
EDIT: OK, I lied a little. I don't like frog meat or croc that much either. But they're not unbearable.

I used to be; I would only drink juice and hated water. I usually only ate pancakes and rice. I was a strange kid.

I said I eat mussels
I'm not averse to TRYING things, just the other types of seafood that I've tried thus far I haven't enjoyed.
And I would never not eat anything someone was serving dinner. And I'm not a huge fan of "fast food".
Stop trying to put people in boxes.

I'll try close to anything however I demand good taste.
I will try anything once, twice if I like it. Thats a motto I live by. Anything new or anything that sounds weird I will eat. It's a bit of a hobby for me. I will intentionally go out of my way to eat things the common person wont eat. The only thing I have found that I can only take small quantities of is squash. I am going to the Phillipines with a friend after we get back from Iraq next year. I should find some different shit there when I go.

I'm not picky whatsoever. I think that anything can be tasty when prepared properly. I hate how picky my boyfriend is. He refuses to eat salad and most vegetables, which I find sort of ridiculous. If not for the flavor at least eat them to have a balanced diet.

I don't know if this classifies me as a picky eater but...
I don't eat big chain fast food. I haven't stepped inside a McD's in years, but I do indulge in the occasional burger from a great place I know. I try not to buy any processed foods or things high in sugar.
Basically, I stay away from anything that looks "manufactured" rather than cooked/prepared.
I would never turn down anything someone prepared for me in their own kitchen.
When I was younger, I wouldn't eat tomatoes or anything made with tomatoes. I think it was the colour that turned me off. Now I can eat tomatoes just fine, with one exception: ketchup. Still can't really stomach the stuff. The texture, the appearance...

I'm with you 100%. Isn't it so annoying when they throw away a plate of food?
I never have been, i'll try any fucking thing, there are things I don't like but I'll eat em, pretty much anything "normal" I'll eat, and I'll try anything. Ok drunk.
my step sis only eats chicken strips, and she routinely throws away nearly full plates of dinner. shits anoyign.

I'm not picky with my food for the most part. I can't stand onions. I like onion salt or powder, but something with onions makes me sick (gives me bad indigestion, makes me want to throw up) . I love leeks, garlic, basil and ramps. (pretty much anything but onions, and the only part that bothers me is the bulb. I love the green part of my fresh grown ones) The no onion thing hurts me when making pasta sauces, it seems that everyone else loves them. Other than that, I will eat anything.
I can stand pretty much any taste, it's a food's texture and smell that gets to me.
Like my friends all say how good tinned tuna is, and how healthy it is. I think I'd like it if I could get the shit past my nose. But fresh tuna is a different story. Same goes with anchovies.
The texture of gelatinous fat grosses me out, but I love crispy fat sooooooooo much. Like stewed lamb tastes great, but I never eat the gooey fat. But that same lamb cooked over coals and the fat is crispy and I'll eat it all. Grissel as well.
Texture and smell.

Amen to this. I used to have this roomate that was a compete bitch when it came to eating and virtually a lot of areas in life. He didn't like beans, mayo, ketchup, tuna, ham, amongst most of the ordinary food a college student in this parts tends to eat. He was always sick and bitching and moaning and angry at me because I drank, smoke and ate a lot and never got sick. Well, little bitch only ate Instant Ramen soup, at least once a day, and usually potato chips and cereal. That's it.

Fucking hell, that really gets me angry. When people around me try to throw out perfectly good food I always offer to finish it.
I don't like many condiments too much, ketchup being my least favorite. I will still eat it on a hotdog. Other than that I will eat just about anything.

I'm not so much picky but I do like flavour in my food. I like being able to identify freshness, textures and tastes. So while I won't enjoy cheaper, mass produced food, I'll still eat it.
