hey sorry for asking a "noob" question, but i cant figure this out, i have downloaded a bunch of diff programs. aircrack, airodump, airsnort, netstumbler, airopeek, kismet, wireshark, idk there may be others, anyway, i cant get them to work, i need to capture the ivs or whatever, but none of them will work for me, with airodump it says " faild to change card channel" or some bullshit, airopeek says i havent installed the wildpackets driver, but i have, its just not working netstumbler runs through and finds all the networks, i need the ivs tho. i have been trying to figure this shit out off and on for like 2 weeks now,

i have a hp desktop computer, with windows xp home, and im using the 2wire usb modem/wireless adaptor whatever, and i figured my adaptor was the problem but they all say its suported so idk, im just stumped.

thanks for the help.

also i tryed searching for this, but i couldnt figure out how to search the archives on here, any other programs or anything would help, this is just pissing me off that i cant figure it out, iv read so many damn tutorials and shit.

Are you sure your wireless card supports injection and passive monitoring?

Run a test with backtrack 3. You might have messed up somewhere when you were installing the programs. BT3 has everything you will need for cracking WEP. If you aren't sure you are going about about cracking WEP correctly then you might want to check out http://blip.tv/file/930698/ and http://blip.tv/file/1010497.

The compatibility list for wireless cards can be found at http://backtrack.offensive-security.com/index.php/HCL:Wireless. You will want to make sure your laptop works in monitor mode and can inject packets. If you find that your wireless card doesn't work then I would just order one online that does or pick up this http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3756936 from your local Wal-Mart.
