Lots of people ask me all the time where to get certain materials. Most of these people don't know what they're talking about. Lots of chemicals that pyros want are in fireworks. Most of the time you can look on the company's website and find out the chemicals in they're fireworks. For instance I rarely ever make flash powder, unless I need a high quality of it. I get about 1.5 - 2 grams of it out of Piccolo Petes (http://www.tntfireworks.com/item.php?pid=200236&cid=SAFE). Thats right those little TNT fireworks your parents bought you when you were 8. This firework is about 5/6 flash powder. For those wondering, the white powder inside is the flash powder. It takes a small amount of time to get it out and crush it rather than going through all the steps to make it. It also costs less. Lots of fire works out there contain many pyrotechnical compound. You may need to separate these when getting them out of the firework but it is easier than making it on your own, most of the time.
