Before I get to my question, I want to give you some background:

My whole life I've felt completely distant and removed from my identity as a male and after much thought have decided to undergo sexual reassignment surgery during the summer. It has been a difficult decision to make, but I feel like the only way I can be happy is if I embrace my true female identity.

After this, I plan on going to a music school to study the Xylophone, so that, hopefully, one day I can play with the Chopi xylophone orchestra.

Given that certain places may not be as accepting of the way I am, I was wondering if anyone could recommend open-minded music schools in liberal/open-minded regions/cities?

Check out IU's Jacobs School of Music. One of the top rated in the country and Bloomington's a nice town and has a decent number of concerts and such in the area.

Oberlin

I was going to suggest that, but Oberlin isn't a large university. It's a small college in a small college town.

But yeah, if you can get into Oberlin's Music Conservatory...that's pretty good.

And that's the only good music school I know of, heh.

there are A LOT of good music schools. if you go to one with a theater program they should be pretty open minded since there will be a lot of guy guys there. so Oberlin is probably good, same with U Arts.
