So basically I'm addicted to soda.

Maybe its not a caffeine addiction, but I'm addicted to something about soda. Something makes me want to drink 3-4 cans a day, and I often buy 2-liters of soda that I drink in one sitting. True story. Generic soda goes for about 87 cents for a 2-liter, and I usually get at least one a week. Maybe I just like the taste of carbonated beverages a little too much, but thank God I only drink diet (disregarding that shit about how it causes cancer). But regardless, I really need to stop drinking so much.

What can you suggest as a cheap alternative that could replace my soda habit? I do try to get Arizona tea as an alternative, but $1 a can is a lot for someone who doesn't have a job and takes pride in quantity over quality.

You are gonna suffer diabetes. Soda is supposed to be worse than beer in terms of health.

I was worse. I drank basically only Dr Pepper (and milk when I was eating) for 5 years. I would drink AT LEAST 3 liters a day, and would also regularly buy 2 liter bottles and finish them within 2-3 hours. I hated water. Then one day I realized how bad it was and forced myself to drink water instead. Now I drink mostly water and milk, and only drink sodas maybe once every few weeks. Trust me, if you don't like water, the more you drink it, the more you'll like it. The downside to this is that you'll also need to drink it more. I'm so hydrated all the time that I can barely drink alcohol for more than 2 hours without getting a horrible headache.

I used to drink soda constantly. We're talking, a 2 ltr. per day, sometimes two, every day for nearly seven years. I wouldn't be surprised to know I'm diabetic. I've slowly been attempting to wean myself off such, and now consume a 20 oz. bottle of Pepsi daily, maybe two, at work, and on weekends I usually drink Jarritos soda.

Trying to get myself to drink water more often, and get my caffeine kick from coffee.

My teeth are also wrecked. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a mouthful of implants within the next few years.

My daily drink addictions consist mostly of green tea during the day and beer at night, I've noticed that if I don't have at least two mugs of strong green tea in the morning I don't seem to operate that well, I'm sure it's because of the caffeine in it, I also get very moody if I don't have my tea.

The same happens at night if I don't have beer I start getting really edgy and nervous and if I'm with other people I get very irritable, but a few pints usually put me in a better state.

I know they're both some kind of mild addictions, but at the end of the day they're both a great improvement from my old amphetamine habits, so really I see this as the lesser of evils.

I can see how people would develop a soda habit though, as it does improve your mood.

BAH! You beat me to it. 87c might get you 2L of softdrink, but for the same price (Just,in Aussie dollars in my case) I can get 20 teabags for jasmine tea which is pretty good cold. Depending on the strength you like it, 3-4 teabags is plenty for a litre.
White tea is also excellent cold, it doesn't develop the slight bitterness green tea can when it cools, but it's more pricey.

(I save my more expensive loose tea for drinking hot.)

I could never really tolerate large amounts of sodas/softdrinks. They're too sweet and I always end up with a furry feeling mouth after too many glasses.
