View Full Version : Compacting Firework

Hey, I did a search before posting this, couldn't find anything to answer my question
How would one compact a screecharoo/screaming demon firework (the ones that scream real loud shoot out the flash etc.) so that it just explodes? I remember my friend doing it a few years ago, hitting it with a hammer a bit and then duct taping it but I'm not quite sure? This isn't something I do often lol, time of the year I suppose.
Thanks for any intelligent replies!

Those fireworks are banned in some areas to prevent just what your trying to do. So know that if you get caught or something... you could fuck it up for EVERYONE.
Those have pressed whistle mix in them, by tapping them with a hammer, or more safely lightly pinching them with pliers in several placed the solid grain of the fuel develops cracks... Then when it is lit instead of burning from end to end the fire passes through the cracks and boom.
Whistle mix can be pretty bad shit. Its a lot like flash in sensitivity. AND since its compressed in those whistling fireworks its several times more composition than you would find in an equivalent sized bootleg m-80. So its much more dangerous than people realize. ALSO if it happens to be some funky illegally made and dressed up whistle from mexico or something... it could be chlorate based... then your really fucked as trying to crack the grain just got several times more dangerous.
Either way pinching or pounding on something that powerful and sensitive that near oneself is fucking retarded.

Well said!
If you want something to explode, just make it. Fireworks are generally constructed pretty well for their purpose, so don't go fucking around with them!
Heck, some sparkler mix in a duct tape casing will get you a halfly decent bang, never mind some actual flash powder.

if your cheap i used to use a bench vice and just stick 3/4s of it in the vice and crush lightly then open the vice turn and crush once more and lightly wrap in tape .. does not have to press hard just has to be well cracked but that was long long ago ... frankly if you wanted to do this may as well unroll them break the larger portion of clay off then again very very carefully crush peices in small amounts in the case of accidental ignition

Yah it is a stupid idea seeing as I don't know much on the topic. BTW they already are banned in my city for obvious reasons. I guess I might just use them for what their meant to do, even though an explosion is way more fun than the screaming/flash.
Thanks

Do this. That's what I used to do, and I only ever burned myself once (but that was with a gram of whistle mix, steel wool, and an electric current. )

Oh, you know. I was trying to build an electric igniter (before I found a donor toaster) and was coating steel wool with whistle mix. And then hooking them into a power supply. It had to be the right distance though, and I forgot to turn off the power when I went to adjust it once. I had underestimated the strength of whistle mix (first LE other than morning glory dust I'd experimented with, and first experiment with it).
So I put all my chemicals away, turned everything off, and then stuck my hand under cold water. The rest of the night I had a glass of icewater for my hand. I burned all the hair off of three fingers, and you could see which fingers were overlapping which by the pattern of the red skin vs white skin. Almost all first degree burns, with a few small blisters at the tips. My pinky is still partially hairless (the others grew back) and i have a slight scar where my nail begins on my pinky, almost like I bashed the distal segment of it into a metal edge.
