i want to vacation to the netherlands with my boyfriend and his best friend. they are both adults, but i am a minor. would i be able to travel with them? i know as a minorm i can travel alone because i've done it numerous times to visit my father in california, but the real question is, can my boyfriend purchase a ticket for me or am i going to have to have my mom buy it?
also, is there an age limit in amsterdam to get a hotel?
Why not ask in the Amsterdam thread? I'm not sure about the ticket but I'm pretty sure the hotel wont be a problem, I was there two years ago, and one of the people I was with was 17. Didn't have any trouble.
Although we were at a shabby ass hotel that probably wouldn't turn down anybody with money.
You're probably gonna have to show your passport in the coffeeshops though.

why is that?
why is that?
Because you need to be 18 to get in and it's just the law.

quoted for truth
but aside from that you should be just fine as far as hotels an tickets go.
and they do actively check Passports over there.
Actually there are hotels that have a minimum age of 18 for checking in. But since you're accompanied by adults I don't think that should be a problem.
Easiest thing to do is to make reservations before you leave and email the hotel with questions like this, to avoid unpleasent surprises.

Traveling overseas is different to going to another state. Are you sure you would be a minor there? This is Europe and legal age is probably 16 or 18. Depends on the hotel.

In western Europe, the legal age by law is 18.

Yeah, but stuff like drinking/smoking/renting hotels and stuff like that varies from country to country ( As I'm sure you know)
To the OP, 16 (under 15% ABV),
18 (15% ABV and over) is the purchasing age for alcohol in the Netherlands, if you were wondering.

If you want to smoke weed there, just don't expect to do it in the coffeeshops and get your boyfriend to buy it.
