Ok so my brother has been torrenting like crazy recently and it was fucking up our connection ( obviously both internet and xbox lvie) I told him to cut it out or ill take out the wifi adapter so he thinks of a plan to connect to our neighbors wifi and dont you know it he does.

Now hes been downloading atleats 50% of any given time so will our neighbors experience any slowdown on there WIRED connection? also most people if lagging on wireless would just blame wireless correct?

If the neighbors have any tech knowledge, they will be able to figure out it's someone leeching. Almost every router I've used has a page that shows who is connected to it.

If they have no technical knowledge, and their connection is always slow. Then they will most likely phone tech support. They will tell them to reset the router, and add WEP/WPA2 to it. Which unless you know how to crack it, will put an end to your torrenting.

Personally, I'd rather have him fucking around with the neighbors than yours. Just leave him be.

What internet are you on? and what router? I had the same problem with a linksys wrt54g, hangups, random restarts and the internet would stop as soon as i started a torrent.
Installed dd-wrt and all my problems went away. i can torrent on 2 computers, browse the internet and play xbox live at the same time.

You gotta love the neighbours that dont secure the network , leeeech , leeech , leeech!
