hey everyone, i bought a 55cm silver chain from a garage sale for $50...
the chain looked great and very shiny...however a year later it is very worn and the silver is turning gold...
does this mean it is fake?
how do i get it back to silver?

Spray RAID on it.
The insecticides inside it turn the oxidised silver into a subliquid which can then seep around and coat the chain evenly.

you're supposed to find bargains at garage sales...
I must inform you that it is simply the finish is exposing the base metal below. If your pins and chain were made of sterling silver, it would indeed be a miracle if they turned gold, but most chains unless you pay a lot of money are made from plated base metal (copper/brass/nickel or some combo of those) and it's probably due to wear and tear/hand oils/some soaps. $50 Australian dollars that's about £19 of my money and in this case I would say you got bumped :p Should'nt go buying jewellry from garage sales! The only way to fix the problem is get the links swapped with new ones by a specialist, which might be a bit costly so you might as well buy a real chain.

You fail for buying a 55cm chain anyway...

Is there any substance in this idea Or is it just bullshit?

Ah, I'd take the chain to a metal plater/polisher.
They might even be able to do a better job on it, Nickel/Chrome sorta thing.

just spray paint it.
doesn't get much more obvious than that.
thats why you only buy chains from dudes who do b&es in rich parts of town and get the nice ass, real shit.
