You're really limiting yourself by saying only recent movies, there's so much more out there. What about classics like The Third Man, The Conversation, Dog Day Afternoon, early Polanski, '50s Hitchcock, giallo films, etc. If you think every good thriller was made in the last 10-15 years then you haven't seen shit.
Anyways for new stuff I'll recommend Eastern Promises, The Lives of Others, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, (all released last year), Caché ('05), I Stand Alone ('98), and Lost Highway ('97).
how in the hell is dog day afternoon a thriller...?

Actually, you are right, and I should be ashamed...
Some of my favorite movies are pre-1980
- Apocalypse Now
- Deliverance
- The Parallax View
- Invasion Of The Body Snatchers... 50s version but mostly the 70s version... 70s version is one of my favorite alltime movies... but I guess technically it's either a scifi or horror? I dunno, cause it was all about paranoia and being chased and alienated... conspiracy overtones and shit
So I guess anything after 1970?
For some reason I just can get into the 40s 50s 60s classics too much...
I liked Rosemary's Baby...
and Double Indemnity

Not really sure if they fit your concept of a thriller but here's a a few movies that were pretty much off the radar...
The Immortals (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113394/) (just a kick ass premise.)
Things to do in Denver When You're Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114660/)
Very Bad Things (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0124198/)
and it is probably my fucked up taste in movies (come on, I think Six String Samurai is a piece of movie greatness) but I have a soft spot for...
Body Parts (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101492/)
and
I, Madman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097557/)

Nice post. Recently one of the films that no one has mentioned yet is Insomnia. Probably the best thriller of the past 10 years. Tell No One is also a decent French thriller made a couple of years back. Good stuff.

Have you seen Disturbia? It's not bad seeing as its a shameless rip-off of Rear Window, pretty much tailor made for fucking retards like yourself who refuse to watch "old" films.
