Looking for something fun to do this weekend, anyone got any ideas?
Preferably I would like to make an incendiary that burns for a long time (10 min) in a liquid form. But any other ideas, unless they are ridiculous, would be appreciated.

Methanol (or ethanol) + boric acid (or CuCl2) = green flames... Simple and fun, just don't do it inside or huff the fumes.

Have trid making some homemade alcohol, the first batch tasted funny and bas bearly drinkable, but got you drunk. the second batch failed to produce alcohol because it was in a too cold place :(

Does this really work? My only attempt to produce a fireball using a HE ended in failure.

APAN under a cup of MEK, surface of mek lit on fire, electrically ignited via a bottlerocket+nichrome affair. Then again, anFO would probably have been a better choice, and some high temp sparky metals couldn't have hurt.

How much of the magnalium for each 100g of ANFO. This sounds cool but doing it on a smaller scale would be easier for me.

if and i mean IF i remember correct i used magnalium flake from a lathe in a shop i worked in and i think i used like 10% by weight in the ANFO but i was just kinda eye balling nothing scientific to back it up ... i used a HDPE container i got back from the days of dupont chemicals and i think and i can't remember that i used a APAN cap it was fused with like 20 inchs of 1/8 inch visco and put in a small previous crater hole with like a 10 kg bag of flour on top .... regardless it yeilded a very violent dust explostion and i could not give you a estimate on how much was burnt but from what i could tell it was quite a large amount of the flour ....

perhaps somthing along the lines of bulker coffee creamers with higher fat content would propigate flame better i dunno

but it certainly is a project.. run with it and publish your results ...

apan appn MEKPPN MEKPAN w/e is easyist hell even flash and somthing ... the point is simply to disperse and ignite the fuel such as flour.... in my experiance it worked quite well and was much like i was expecting but with kinda a twist

Flash would be considerably easier for me than making ANFO or APAN, don't really have the sources for it. Adding black powder to the mixture would help the explosive power but igniting the flour... well I'll have to mess around with this one for a while. Nonetheless it's a good project.

What kind of flour did you use? Wheat has more organic materials and white comes in unbleached and bleached, i don't think it makes a difference. The sack, itself could be soaked in gasoline, kerosene or a diesel fuel to accelerate the burning. Many ideas to work with.

You can find acetone, hydrogen peroxide, a catalyst, and cold packs, I guarantee you. Adding black powder won't help your flash powder. That'd be like adding aluminum cans to your campfire. They may burn, but they aren't speeding anything along. Adding extra AL flake, preferably larger would help insure flame propigation. I don't think the variant of flower will change anything (but by all means experiment) and soaking the sack sounds like an accident waiting to happen + would probably clump your powder, which would ideally be distributed finely and uniformly in the air - aka not clumpy.

wouldnt the gasoline cause the flour to clump and not get enough oxygen? i think any flames would be purely from the gasoline, not a true dust explosion.
you could end up with flaming clumps of flour, which could be cool i suppose

soaking as in soaking it for a day or two then drying it out over time, i have found a much easier dust explosion device though
