i love kung fu movies. old ones, new ones, an especially dubbed ones.
awesome fight scenes an awesome story lines most of the time. honestly it is my idea of the perfect action flick. watching the characters grow, an seeing the fight of good vs evil just gets me all excited. its like a ballet only i actually give a shit.
so Totse, do you like Kung Fu, an if so which movies. for something old, i would have to say the 36th chamber of shaolin is hard to beat. an as far as new, well ong bak is just fucking hard core as hard core gets.

36th chamber of Shaolin is probably the pinnacle.
A personal favorite of mine is Chinese Super Ninjas a.k.a Five Elements Ninja.
Fucking sneaky wood ninjas...
But basically anything by Cheh Chang will guarantee a good time and he was prolific as a motherfucker so you have plenty to choose from.

I'm a big fan of the Jackie Chan/Sammo Hung/Yuen Bioa kung fu comedy of the late 70s and 80s. Period stuff like Drunken Master, The Victim, Warriors Two, The Odd Couple and so on and the comtemporary stuff like the Police Story films. Bruce Lee is obviously essential watching especially Way of the Dragon (when Chuck Norris was more than just an internet punchline).

Yep I'm with you on that. Drunken Master is unmatchable IMO.
Also " its like a ballet only i actually give a shit." = QFT.

Lol. That reminds me of, "Kung Fu is like ballet, except there's no choreography, and the dancers hit each other."

Drunken Master, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, plus all of the aforementioned 70's flicks.
The best Kung Fu movie ever for me though will always be The Big Boss, it's just such a classic.

Screw Ong Bak. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arXYCBmurLQ)
Admittedly, you kind of have to watch past 2:00 'til it gets good.

Ong Bak is excellent, watch it with your pants off.
I just thought I'd pop in this thread to say the following:
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing
They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing
There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they did it with expert timing

Master of the flying guillotine and five deadly venoms are some of the most hardcore movies ive ever seen.
The Once Upon a Time in China series, Jet Li's best work...umm....Ah! One Armed Swordsman is a classic that you can't miss.
And my favorite.... Iron Monkey.
Hero was also great.

What? No love for Kung Pow? I love that movie.
Anything Bruce Lee. It would be nice to find something other than Bruce Lee movies, though. I'm personally fond of Kung-Fu Hustle because of it's humor and over the top fighting styles.

look for anything with tony jaa in it.
Admittedly I haven't seen many kung fu movies, but this thread has given me inspiration to check such out. I'll probably start wtih 36th Chamber of Shaolin.
I'm also looking for more samurai flicks to compliment the few I've seen - basically like a high-action western or kung fu film, except with lots of swordfighting instead of guns or fists.

I absolutely love the sound the punches and kicks make. It's like whapish or something. A sound effect'd be better.
Anyway favourite kung fu film'd be Game of Death. Bruce Lee rules. Really tall guy looks like Kareem Abdul Jabar. Not sure if that's how to spell his name...

Although not so much kung-fu, I'm going to throw District B13 out there.
