thoughts? I think the trailer looks kick ass, seems like their will be TONS more action than in casino royale, this new bond is looking to be a pretty good one, and these movies just get better and better.

The problem with Bond movies nowadays is that they are pure action, not the sneaky sort of espionage movie they used to be.

People are too stupid today, they can't pay attention, are always asking questions instead of waiting for the answer to reveal itself.

parjus, you must be a fucking fool to take someone with the name Atomic_Bong seriously. Obviously the fuck is a stoner, has short term memory thus short attention span, probably sports a hat from Hot Topik, a shirt with Bam Margera twisting that fugly face of his into some obscene display of amusement or "fuck the world" and requires mediocre scenes of violence to jolly his jilly. I can go on and on about what pretentious prick he is, but you're probably just as stoned, thus feeble minded as Atomic_Bong to not realize that from the very beginning.

the first reviews for the film coming out are pretty mixed for exactly that reason. Apparently this new film throws away most of the things that made casino royale so fucking great in exchange for another bond action flick with a roger moore era plot.

Oh well, I'm a James Bond fan i just don't understand why the series had to revert back to JUST an action film. Its as if they felt Casino Royale wasnt a success.

Yeah. I consider all of his to be the 'top' Bond movies, but the different Bonds should be considered as having their own series, since comparing the various bond phases would be like comparing apples to oranges in some cases. From Russia With Love is the best evah though.

I was actually mildly disappointed with Quantum. After Casino Royale I thought that the new Daniel Craig films were going to be grittier and more about Bond and his internal conflicts, rather than over the top action.

Things like shooting propane tanks and jumping boats seemed like a return to the crap that was Die Another Day.

that's so true man bring back the older bond and ill be happy not this bullshit I've been seeing lately. Daniel Craig is no bond. he's one of those bad actors that for some reason gets an important role in a movie (see max payne).

how is he a bad actor? He fits the role for this bond perfectly, youngish and pissed off.

I don't like the direction these new bond movies are taking. James Bond has gone from a cool, level-headed assassin to some emo Rambo out for revenge. I suppose having an emotionally scarred bond out for vengeance gives more depth to an otherwise one-dimensional character, and having some unity between the movies is nice.

But it just doesn't feel like bond anymore :(.

I agree that the new bond film is somewhat disappointing. Sure it was vaguely enjoyable to watch, but I sure as shit wouldn't want to buy the DVD. I far prefered casino royale, and even that wasnt amazing.

There was definitely too much action and the script lacked much substance. If I remember correctly this film had a different director to casino royale anyhow.

That response was so utterly full of fail. You actually had to list movies that you like to try and prove your movie superiority? lol k.

Anyway, I'm so fuckin excited about Quantum. I would truly hate it though if it were only an action movie. The last bond was so excellent because it had just enough action. Sigh...

I liked Casino Royale, though I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone had made it out to be. Definitely one of the best Bond movies, and it certainly was a nice reboot from the tired, retardedly hi-tech, overly-complicated Brosnan movies. Regardless, it didn't really feel as coherent and fluid as the Bourne movies...so it was basically some good action scenes with a mediocre backdrop.

The trailer for this one looks intense, as though it borrowed a lot from The Bourne Ultimatum. As long as it delivers excitement, I don't really give a fuck. I hate Bond elitism..."Omg Sean Connery's the best. Omg all the new Bond movie suck, blah blah". They're just stupid movies meant to entertain...sit back and relax.

A few critics agree, saying the new Bond films are too Bourne-like. Note, too, that QoS is the shortest Bond film since Goldfinger.

Still, I think Craig may well become the greatest Bond ever.

I saw it last night at a midnight screening. I thought it was medicore at best. Bond lacked the wit and charisma that he has had throughout the series. He was more like a British Jason Bourne.

Bond girls are my least favorite part of Bond movies. With the exception of the girl in the last movie, they almost never add anything interesting to the plot, and they're just there for some obligatory, retarded seduction/sex scene.

But yeah, she's hot. She was that girl that got cut into a bunch of pieces in Max Payne.

EDIT: I'd like to see a Bond girl that doesn't look like a supermodel. I mean, someone hot of course, but all of these girls that just have perfect features are kinda boring, you know?

I'd basically describe this as "The Bond Ultimatum-lite". They clearly took notes on the big fight scene and all of the ledge jumping in Ultimatum.

Overall, it had some good action in it, but nothing really innovative or memorable on any front. If they couldn't up the ante on Bourne Ultimuatum's gritty, awesome action, they should have focused on giving us a really intelligent spy thriller. I personally would ooh and aah at good writing just as much as I would at an awesome fight scene. (Though I guess I'm probably in a minority in that respect) And on that note, one scene that I thought was particularly strong was the part in the opera house.

And one more thing about Bourne...if they're going to imitate him, they should realize that the best thing about Bourne fights is that they are brutal and "real". The choreography in Solace was good, but seeing Bond effortless take people out with a smirk on his face...kinda lame in comparison to seeing what looks like a true fight to the death in Bourne movies.

Final complaint: The very end was weak. I was looking forward to some badass moment like at the end of Casino Royale (ie. Bond shooting that guy and then standing over him with the gun as the music plays), and thought the solemn fade to black as kind of disappointing. I suppose technically it fits with the theme about Bond getting over Vesper, but...who are they kidding...this was just a fucking action movie.

But yeah, it certainly wasn't bad, and definitely not a waste of money to see in theaters.
