So I have this query on Totse's opinion about the effects that Panax (Ginseng) has on the body, and the effects Blueberries have on the body.

Ginseng has been used for centuries in cultures for a stimulant, and as an aphrodisiac. There is limited pharmaceutical study on the medicinal effects of ginseng but it apparently has ginsenosides which effect the CNS to enhance libido. But taking too much can cause nausea and insomnia. Some people go so far as to say Ginseng has no medicinal aspects.

Blueberries on the other hand have been thoroughly studied. They have a high level of antioxidants which assist in everything from slowing the aging process to reducing inflammation. Blueberries are also full of multiple nutrients: manganese, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and vitamin K. They also have anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, flavonols, and tannins that inhibit cancer cells.

I consume about 1 cup of blueberries a day, and it really makes me feel healthier than before I started having a daily dose of them. I came across a few bottles of Ginseng extract and now I am considering taking it in daily dosages, small amounts, to see if there is some difference. I'll repost results in a week or so.

Feel free to list any other obscure food that could be useful in repetitive quantities.

Through a fairly new process, dried blueberries now contain the same properties as fresh ones.

Cooked spinach is a quality one for you.

I take quite a lot of ginseng, you didn't mention it's also great to boost your immune system, whenever I feel a bit down I take a bit and it makes me feel better, it's a great stimulant and it doesn't make you feel edgy.

Good idea for a thread, now dinner's ready, I'll post more later, eventually.

the effects may purely be psychological.

because the blueberries have been documented to be good for people, you psychologically take the assumption that, yes i am better.

it's similar to the sugar pills that doctors gave patients.

in a medical study, they split up 100 people, 50 ; 50.

half they gave real pills,. the other sugar pills.

60% of the people that got sugar pills insisted they felt better, or that it worked.

You do have a valid point, but I am usually a pessimistic person, and the placebo situation just doesn't occur that much with me.

Way to pull some statistics out of your ass. What about the real medication, how many felt better from that?

The placebo effect is well documented in MANY different circumstances. 70% of people who tell people they're making up statistics, are cockasses.
