I've set this up half a dozen times before, but for some crazy reason I can't remember how to do it this time. I'm trying to setup a folder on my laptop to access the files that I share from my desktop via my wireless network. You know, I click the share option for a file on my desktop and when I open the "shared network" folder on my laptop, boom, there it is.

I seem to remember, on my laptop, opening 'Run' from the 'start menu' then typing the IP address of my desktop, a folder opens, then designating a shortcut to the folder. It ain't working this time. I'm sure I'm leaving a step out. Can y'all enlighten me?

Assuming your laptop and desktop are in the same workgroup try running the UNC path.

start > run > \\name (file://\\name) of desktop computer.
