Unfortunately Mike Judge has expressed interest in doing a live actoin B&B movie, which I'm not for at all.

its a comedy on the outside but the minor continuity gave it a sort of drama feel to. never resorts to absurdist stuff either

KotH wasn't really comedy to be totally honest. It had some funny moments, but it wasn't really comedy.

The reason I enjoyed it is because it was such a good real life simulator. It showed how a stupid texas family exists under the stereotypes and portrays them. Did anyone not want to kill the blond haired girl that was a cousin or something of the family? She really was portrayed as the ultimate dumbest airhead ever, and it felt so realistic that it actually angered you.

No other show has done that.

Yeah, screw Family Guy.
That show annoys me to no end and I haven't watched it since the first season. Yet, friends/co-workers always seem to ask me if I saw the latest episode.
No matter where in pop culture a conversation takes me, there is always some douchenozzle who has to chime in with, "Did you see that episode of Family Guy where.....?"
It seems that geeks can't even talk Star Wars anymore without someone bringing up the goddamn Blue Harvest episode.

King of the hill > american dad > family guy

B&B was the same show as KOTH, it just had different central characters. It's the same observational comedy that makes them both great comedy.

http://www.newsarama.com/tv/110805-AdultSwim.html

Adult Swim today announced it will expand its popular late-night programming by having it begin every day at 10 p.m. The new schedule will begin airing in January 2009. Since becoming an individually-rated network in the second quarter of 2005, the network has ranked #1 in total day delivery of adults 18-24 and men 18-24 for 14 consecutive quarters. Additionally, Adult Swim has ranked #1 with men 18-34 for 12 of the last 14 quarters.

To launch the new hour of programming, Adult Swim has reached a multi-year licensing agreement with Twentieth Television to air the Emmy® Award-winning animated series King of the Hill. Starting in January, King of the Hill will kick off Adult Swim every night at 10 p.m.

“Adult Swim has been a consistent ratings winner,” said Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Turner Broadcasting’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media group. “By expanding the network with exciting new programming, which speaks directly to our audience, Adult Swim and AdultSwim.com can continue to grow and be the dominant brand with men 18-34.” “With King of the Hill joining Family Guy in our Adult Swim lineup we now have two of the greatest animated series ever made,” said Mike Lazzo, senior vice president of programming and production for Adult Swim.

Adult Swim debuted in Sept. 2001 with just three hours of programming airing two nights a week. In January 2003, fueled by popularity and impressive ratings gains, Adult Swim’s schedule increased to five nights per week, Sunday – Thursday, 11 p.m. – 2 a.m. (ET/PT). By March 2005, the late-night block more than doubled its air time, jumping from 15 hours to 42 hours a week, airing Monday – Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 p.m. – 6 a.m. (ET/PT). In July of 2007, Adult Swim expanded to seven nights per week, airing Monday – Saturday, 11 p.m. – 6 a.m. (ET/ PT) and Sundays at 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (ET/PT).

Now in its twelfth season on FOX, King of the Hill depicts the life and times of Hank Hill (Mike Judge), his family and their neighbors in the fictional suburb of Arlen, Texas, the heartland of America. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are co-creators/executive producers and Michael Rotenberg, Howard Klein, John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Jim Dauterive and Garland Testa are executive producers for the 1999 Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Animated Program. King of the Hill, which is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in association with Deedle-Dee Productions, Judgemental Films and 3 Arts Entertainment, is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

Adult Swim (AdultSwim.com), launched in 2001, is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s network offering original and acquired animated and live action series for young adults. Airing overnight 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday (ET/PT), Adult Swim shares channel space with Cartoon Network, home to the best in classic, original and acquired programming, seen in 97 million U.S. homes.

Well that's a bummer. King of the Hill was a decent show. I'd watch the reruns sometimes in the afternoons, and in that Animation lineup on Sunday nights. (Although sometimes it bored the hell out of me and I'd put it on mute and find something else to do for 22 minutes) Not the funniest cartoon out there, but the way they animated it was well done. You have to give some credit there. And Hank Hill was probably the most morally upright character in the history of the Fox channel, even if he'd sometimes break character and be like "What I ought to be doing is kicking your ass...(for whatever reason). It had a good run and I'm sure Mike Judge and writers have been stretching for plot ideas the last few seasons. That's cool they got Tom Petty to come on and be the voice of that Lucky dude. The blonde niece chick's boyfriend. And more cartoons should have angry asian neighbors who bitch about anything Americans take for granted.

That kind of sucks if they were cancelling it just to put that Cleveland Show in it's place though. From what Seth McFarlane was describing on some late night show, it's going to be a sketch comedy type spin off with little 4 minute skits with minor characters from Family Guy or something. Family Guy has been getting really weird and random in the last 2 seasons since it was brought back, so I don't have high hopes for this new crap.

Also,
1.) Seth McFarlane was hungover from heavily drinking the night before, and his plane was leaving on the morning of September 11th, so he slept in and missed the flight.

2.) That's sweet Adult Swim picked up some reruns. Now if I only had cable to watch that channel..

edit:: and i don't think it will pull a family guy... it's had too many episodes. the reason family guy did what it did was cause it only had like 3 seasons... 30 some episodes and people wanted MORE. there's plenty of hank hill to keep you happy.

i wonder if fox is canceling it to make a time slot for the spinoff of family guy where cleveland gets his own show...?

it had its moments of genius and it had its moments of absolute bleakness/boringness. overall i would say it degraded in quality over time just as most shows do. the first 3 seaons were great but they slowly started running out of ideas. all good things must come to an end.
