I have a cabinet in my kitchen that would make a perfect liquor cabinet. It has a glass door and 4 shelves that are almost a foot deep, and the shelves are far enough apart that even the tallest of bottles will fit.

I was thinking of putting a piece of mirrored glass in the very back of the cabinet, and changing the wood shelves for some Plexiglas or Lucite shelves. I also want to change the door handle, the hinges for the door, and the shelf mounts to either chrome hardware, or anodized aluminium hardware. I want to paint the rest of the wood a gloss black color, and place either blue lighting under the shelves or use regular white light under blue lucite shelves to get a neat blue glow among the mirrored glass and chrome accents.

How much would a project like this cost me, and how should I go about doing it. Thoughts, plans, or even furthering my ideas is appreciated.

Most of these components could be acquired for free from craigslist/garage sales. But, it would be cool to go with all clear shelving and have blue LEDs around. Are the shelves already held up by brackets? The biggest pain is going to be hiding the wires cause you cant just send them out the back.

maybe he means thats what he would charge if he was doing it for somebody, not the total cost of materials. if so, then the answer doesn't even apply, cause then you wouldn't be Doing It Yourself
