So, I was watching some documentary thingie following the Essex police about in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, and I thought it'd be something fun to do to see what everybodys local constabulary uses for their patrol/pursuit cars.
My local Cleveland Constabulary use the successor to the Volvo 850 (I can't remember what it is called), but the T5 version, and obviously heavily tuned. I've heard one of them go past at full throttle. Twas orgasmic. Reminded me of my dads old Quattro. (EDIT: Looking it up, I think it is the V50 T5 AWD)
For a high speed pursuit they also have a bright silver Audi RS4, which I'm guessing has had the speed limiter removed. Never seen that moving, only sat controlling traffic at an accident on the motorway.
And for undercover cars they use Vauxhall Vectra's and Omega's, with the V6 engines, and some Lexus or other. Fortunately due to them having 4 extra aerials on the roof, you can usually tell one and cut speed accordingly......
So what does totse's local police use for their patrol cars? It'll be interesting to find out.
Skoda Fabias. I'm not kidding...
Back in Reading though they use Vauxhall Astras and the odd BMW.

same here, and a few suburbans as well, used to see the fox body mustang, most have been replaced by ls-1 camaro's for high speed chases, all black and whited out. besides those, the only other full time cop cars i've seen are dodge intrepids up north.
also the california highway patrol has the bmw k1200 bikes

On top of those I've seen around locally:
Unmarked Ford Focuses in black/grey.
Unmarked Subaru Impreza in blue.
Unmarked Skoda Octavia in Silver/grey.
Unmarked Ford Galaxy in red.
Marked BMW 3 series.
And bike wise there's a old model silver unmarked Honda Fireblade around apperently, along with marked BMW k1200s and Honda Pan Euros.

XR8 Falcons and SS Commodores for highway patrol cars.
V6 Falcons and Commodores for regular duties.
Mercedes vans and Holden Rodeos are paddy wagons.
Volkswagon Transporters for traffic duties.
Unmarked XR6 Turbo falcons, unmarked SS's and XR8's as well. And those fuckers are hard to spot. The lights are well hidden and they aren't bristling with aerials.
(Comrade probably enjoys the XR6 effect - exemplary driving wherever he goes.)
They have a few unmarked SS utes to.
They have Landcruiser's and Prado's for Off road and search & rescue.
K9 units are Falcon utes with canopies built on for the dogs.
Motorcycle cops are big BMW bikes and some 450 KTM dirtbikes.
My city also had a couple of turbo'd Holden Monaros for pursuits, they had balls.

lots of Crown Vics and Chargers marked and unmarked
about three marked Explorers and one unmarked that doesn't even have a whipper. it is silver and looks like any old Explorer it is pretty much impossible to pick out...not even a municipal plate.
there is a completely unmarked black 2500HD Chevy pickup
a couple marked and unmarked Impalas
and there even used to be an unmarked SRT-4. I kid you not.

I've seen police interceptor mustangs and camaros, chargers are common now.
Also, I thought this was bullshit when I first heard it from somebody, but apparently certain unmarked state trooper crown vics (as well as one of my city's unmarked detective vics) run highly modified, forced induction engines! I had heard it from a few friends but I recently talked to one of the mechanics that works for the state and he confirmed it. Apparently they are supposed to be capable of 170+mph and push nearly 500hp!
(I'm in MA by the way)
Commodores.
These, and magic.

Just live up the road from the OP in Northumbria. They have the same volvo's, both marked and unmarked, but the unmarked are easy to pick up with the blacked out back windows, lights hidden under the grill and ariels.
I have also seen them using a Porche 911 unmarked, dont know if its something they have bought or if they have been given a lend of it for a while from Porche or the dealers.

This, plus some F150/F250 variant, and Harleys for the bike cops. Got passed by a SL63 AMG police car on the autobahn last summer, fucker must have been doing 250 easily. In a 120.

I've seen a handful of F*50 trucks for the Highway Patrol as well. One of them was tailing me with his high beams on and evidently his strobes weren't working. I went 55 for about 10 minutes before he was able to pass me and I saw that his blue lights were on the whole time. <_< >_>
For the presidential debate, I saw about 6 or so motorcycles. Not sure of their make, but they were definitely not from around here. The closest I've seen a police bike is in Memphis.

Volvo S60 T5 maybe? They may have gotten an S60R if they are a lucky police department. The 5cylinders DO sound orgasmic. I has one :)

Ford Crown Victorias and Dadge Chargers are the most popular. I know they also use SUVs but I'v never seen them close enough to get the make or model. I remember in the summer, I was riding my ATV on the road and a cop car caught up to me and I floored it. I ended up get alot of distance between us until I pulled off onto a trail in the woods. I think that the only reason I was able to outrun him was the fact that it was a VW Beatle. I had never seem them before and didn't even know that cops used Beatles.
