totse what is your favorite situational comedy?

mine would have to be married with children. the bundy clan is just so fucking funny. even the really awful bits like the talking dog are gold. i dont know how they do it, but i never leave that show with out at least a chuckel. not to mention Christina Applegate is a total fox.

so what family do you like to tune in for?

Scrubs, by far.

It's a great balance of comedy with a bit of drama, not to mention many of the female characters are entirely gorgeous. Besides, Dr. Cox, the best character on the show, is one witty m'fer, and a fan of both Scotch and the Detroit Red Wings.

Fucking win.

It's not my absolute favorite, but it's still ... a favorite.

Best episodes:

Kramer attempts to manufacture Cuban cigars via the hiring of "Cubans," who later turn out to be Dominicans.

And the one where Newman swipes a postal truck to take nickel return bottles to Michigan, where they'd instead be worth a dime.

God that show blows a big dick. All the characters are annoying and the jokes are mostly sexual innuendos we used to say in elementary school.

I like:

Seinfeld
Friends...at times
Fresh Prince
Roseanne
Home Improvement
Scrubs

I've been meaning to give MASH (not a sitcom, I know) a chance because I feel like that was the original Scrubs...with the mix of comedy and drama, I mean. Guess it's also coincidental that they are both about doctors.

This is pretty late, but god damn. Putting Seinfeld on par with Everybody loves Raymond is a kick in the balls and a slap to the face to Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld. The rest of your picks are pretty good, actually. But still, god damn...

Anyways, I do like Seinfeld, and I'm surprised not many of you are mentioning Curb you Enthusiasm. Larry David aside, Frasier delivers the laughs as well. Friends can be hit-and-miss at times, however.

And what the hell does Taxicab Confessions count as?

Says who, you?

Says the majority of educated viewers. Nothing against those who actually like Raymond, it's just that, in my opinion, the Show's humor, plot, and characters are childish and immature, and not on par with those of Seinfeld.

Spaced mos def. I was glad when the DVDs finally came to the states.

3rd Rock From the Sun was terrific, especially the first few seasons.

I'd say I love Arrested Development, but I never have the urge to watch it, the way I do other shows. Whenever I see it I love it, but it never planted that seed of fanaticism in me the way other programs have. It's odd because it seems like something I would normally obsess over.

Seinfeld. Cheers... I have to say Cheers. Cheers was like my family's version of Scientology. My dad had drawers full of VHS tapes of Cheers eps and we watched it constantly. Everyone hated one another, but we all loved Cheers. When Seinfeld went on the air it was added to the VHS repertoire. Ah... memories. Wait; those memories are horrible. Well, shit.

Can't forget Night Court. When I was a kid I was obsessed with that show. Great writing, fun characters. It walked the perfect line between sitcom schmultz and art.

Father Ted, Black Books... and yes, I like The IT Crowd, whoever derided it. It's a cute show; nothing amazing, but comfortable to watch.

But it has more drama and shit to it.

Which reminds me of my favorite sitcom of all time, All in the Family. That show could be hilarious during some parts of an episode, but also make a serious social commentary in another.

MASH is a sitcom.

Fuck I loved the episode where they tricked a racist guy into thinking he'd got a transfusion of nigger blood instead of white blood, and as a result he was turning into a nigger. They painted his skin brown with boot polish while he slept, and offered him watermelon and fried chicken for his dinner. :D
