I dont know if this is the write phrase, but im sure most of you know what im talking about.

The food and culinary stuff to do with a particular culture/nationality.

Id have to say my favourite is Italian because thats what ive been brought up on and its extremely healthy, although Mediterranean food in general is pretty wicked.

In my opinion theres always some good food everywhere in the world, this is just my top choice.

So what is your favourite?

I can't choose!

I like Italian food for it's range of flavours and spices.
I like French food for its richness.
I like traditional English food for its simple, meat-two-veggies nature.
German food for it's dominance over the world of baked products.

It's so hard to choose. I just enjoy food.

Japanese food.

My grandfather's second wife is an Okinawan woman whom has been a part of the family for forty years. She cooks a damned tasty meal and has exposed me to many Japanese dishes you'll never see in cookbooks.

I'd go with Vietnamese, when I went there on holiday I had some amazing things, their dishes are halfway between Chinese and Thai but way more raffinate and delicate, they make some shrimp dumplings that are just divine, way more researched and sophisticated than Chinese cuisine.

Indian food for sure. Spicy, lots of veggies and grains, so filling and good. And so many great flavors.

this. Indian food owns all. eating lamb vindaloo with garlic naan an sag alloo is like having a rainbow in my mouth. in fact i just got half a stiffy writing this post out.

a close second would be thai, simply for their panang curry. yummy.

third would be mexican. not taco bell mexican but real corn tortilla mexican.

Italian to me tastes pretty much the same. It's kind of made up of the same things (like taco bell). But i've only tasted sheltered italian food like pizza, lasagna, all the pastas, etc. My family doesn't like to try new cuisines but we do enjoy chinese. I'm undecided.:(

I just love food too much to choose favourites.

Unfortunately I'm rather inexperienced insofar as Indian culinary is concerned.

You should all recommend dishes I must try, and describe them to me in vivid detail.

Just wikipedia Indian cuisine. That'll get you started. It's not exactly a thrilling way to learn about something, but it's a fair start.

Indian, Mediterranean and Mexican for me ..

BckPcker : try sag aloo .. basically a rich potato/buttery curry but with a really nice flavour and green colours in it too .. reasonably mild on the spice side but that's nice for me :)

Chili sin carne is a nice mexican one for me ..

Mediterranean: hummus, pita bread, olive oil, etc etc are some nice examples ...

Damn I'm getting hungry now ..

I'm going to go with Japanese. It's incredibly unique in presentation and taste, and it's healthy to boot.

So I visited the Indian cuisine page on Wiki, which links to ... dozens more pages concerning Indian cuisine!

I'm already drooling over various recipes and searching for Indian cuisine cookbooks on Amazon.

Mediterranean/Middle Eastern. I could go on and on about the fresh flavor, slight spice, and differences between the countries, but I will lump them into the same category.

Italian. Despite it being a Mediterranean country, it's the perfect food for a cold climate.

fuck yeah, but i have just one complaint in that regard.

I was talking to my boss at work who is an indian, and also the guy who works at the indian resturant next door and he told me one of the gay things about indian cuisine is that it is OR at least can be really unhealthy, especially the way its done in resturants (cus we all know chefs chuck butter in everything anyway) because they fry the fuck outa all the vegetables and even the spices like ginger in butter and then add more butter and cream to fucking everything.

That being said theres always a healthy alternative.

The thing about the medditeranian diet is u dont have to worry about that shit, just cook it up the way its traditionally made cus its all good.

I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing .. although I'm not one to sit down for dinner for an hour to eat everything, I just want high density foods that I can chomp down on :p

If I see you post this link again I'm going to report you for spamming. It's annoying.

Talking about Indian, Sag Aloo is a fantastic side dish. A good Keema naan doesn't go amiss either.

Hmm, I'll have to look up some new recipes. I'd love to know how they use beef.

The most interesting bit concerning their bovine tendencies is Kobe beef; the production of which involves giving the cattle beer and daily massages.
