So, I see this story about a pretty, blonde news chick getting beaten to death on 10/20/08, and the first thing I think is "A black man raped and killed her, grabbed what valuables he could, and ran. Ho-hum, a typical day in the city."
You know, because I'm a racist.
Anyway, I didn't give it much more thought, but I saw her parents being interviewed on the Today show on 11/3/08, and no one mentioned anything about the investigation, whether they have a suspect, etc.
so, just now, I looked up what little there is to be had:
From the New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/26/us/26anchor.html?_r=2&scp=1&sq=Anne%20Pressly&st=cse&oref=slogin&oref=slogin), 10/26/08:
A credit card belonging to Ms. Pressly was used at a service station several miles from her residence shortly after Mrs. Cannady discovered her daughter, the police said.
Yesterday, police announced (http://www.ktnv.com/global/story.asp?s=9287498)that they have evidence, but still haven't named a suspect.
And, finally, from Wikipedia, a breakdown of the demographic make-up of Little Rock:
55.1% White, 40.4% Black, 0.3% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.28% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. 2.7% of the population is Hispanic or Latino.
Theory: the video showed the suspect clear as day, but the authorities have been sitting on it. Maybe they're waiting until the votes are all in before they announce it. Any takers?
