View Full Version : what changes are comin to my birthrights?
no trolling or even joking from me this time guys.
what changes are coming exactly to our gun rights?.. from what i hear, he will work verry hard getting sub machine guns of ANY kind, even the ones made for semi automatic, completly illigal, and to be honest, i guess i can understand that, i dont like it, but that i can understand.
what about hand guns? and the weapons we use to protect ourselfes from danger? my GF is pregnate, 6 months along, and were both college students, cant exactly afford to life in a nice neiborhood at the moment, i know i can take care of myself, but, now i have a life to support and protect, its my responsibility, i was born in america, and i always thought that gave me the right to protect myself with a firearm, its my birth right, i like obama, besides the gun stuff, but what exactly is he propossing?

Gun control and firearms were not a part of the presidential campaign this year and seemingly weren't talked about at all in the media. However Obama's voting record and other history make it pretty clear where he stands, he's your basic gun grabber. If it were up to him and him alone to make a sweeping decision without political consequence he would probably outlaw private ownership of firearms all together(like most anti-gunners would). Because he doesn't have that kind of power or immunity to politcal backlash, under Obama presidency and more importantly the mostly Democrat congress you are looking at a possible return of the federal AWB(probably more restrictive without the sunset this time around if it does come up), possible restriction of handguns, possible restriction of .50 calibers, possible restriction of "sniper rifles"(ie hunting rifles), you get the idea. It's basically whatever the gun control bunch want to get their panties in a bunch and bitch about next, if they bitch enough you could effectively see the end of private firearms ownership alltogether though lots of differant restrictions of different weapons(which is really want they want) however I doubt it will all happen over the course of one term so things aren't hopeless(yet) and can still be turned around.
It really comes down to we'll just have to wait and see, however at this point anything is possible reguarding restriction and nearly nothing in the direction of more freedom with respect to firearms.

In short- were fucked. Based on Osama's record he will sign any gun control measure to come his way. And the Democrats are controlling congress.
It will never be a snatch all- at- once of our guns. They will chip away gently until nothings left.
A lot of people always talk about fighting till there last breath instead of giving up their guns. Well, maybe they'll have a chance.
So THERE is a better question- How much would be to much for American gunowners? Who would lead a rebellion? The NRA? Certianly not! I think all but a select few individuals would hand the guns over.

This just gives eligible gun owners an opportunity to use their tax break (or handout check) to donate to pro-firearms lobby groups such as the NRA, JPFO, GOA, etc. to ensure people minimize the damage. All of you need to be writing your Senators and Congressmen, checking up on your local legislation, and generally keeping vigilant.
^ That's the plan. I will be contacting multiple representatives at various levels to let them know that I, and other firearms owners, can not tolerate further abuses of the Second Amendment; and that, as a law-abiding citizen, I do not expect to be punished for my choice to own a firearms when criminals run rampant unpunished.
I'll be joining the NRA and Gun Owners of America soon, and encouraging friends to do the same.
Furthermore, I will be purchasing many firearms in preparation for the inevitable restrictions to come. Thankfully I turn 21 only a week past the day of inauguration, and should have the money at the time to purchase both an M1911 and Walther .40 PPS. Gonna be stocking up on ammunition, too.

Considering Heller, I doubt handguns are at much risk... especially those you mentioned with smaller magazine capacities. I'd definitely prioritize on the scary rifles first, maybe one handgun, and see from there.

Perhaps not a bad idea. One of my top priorities is the purchase of an SKS. Hopefully I'll be able to find one at the gun show on the 14th and 15th for a reasonable price.

Hey fudgpckr instead of buying all of these third-world 40$ weapons at the flea market why don't you save up some of that quik-e mart fortune and get yourself a weapon that'll last Obama's first term not some firewood-stock mosin-niggant or a korea-made 1911. Chill out, man. Mosin Nagant rifles performed admirably in environments that defeated the most technologically advanced army of the day. Cheap AKs have likely wrought more death on the battlefield than any other small arm. If it goes bang when you need it, a cheap gun is infinitely better than nothing.

Ah yes, because the Mosin-Nagant is such a piece of shit weapon.
If you'd pick up a copy of the book Weapons and Tactics of the Soviet Army, you'd learn that the commonly issued Nagant sniper variant enabled Soviet sharpshooters to perform quite admirably:
Such snipers were estimated to have a 50% probability of hitting a standing, man-sized target at 800 m (1/2 mile), and an 80% probability of hitting a standing, man-sized target at 500 m. For distances not exceeding 200 m the probability was estimated to be well above 90%
The Nagant design has been used since before the turn of the last century and been of a lasting impact. Not only has this admirable rifle been responsible for the deaths of likely millions in multiple world-changing conflicts, it also can take a beating I wouldn't consider most other firearms able to survive and still work. This is why more than a century after the first were manufactured, it is still being used on modern battlefields!
And where you got the idea of myself purchasing a Korean-made M1911, I have no idea, but I'm going to set such aside as a dumbass remark from an even more idiotic new arrival. But if you must know the M1911 I am considering for purchase is made in Geneseo, Illinois, the Walther PPS is of German origin, and the Ruger New Vaquero revolvers are made here in America.

1. No, they are not the same.
2. I have no boys.
3. My good friends, many of which are currently overseas, mostly use the M4... not the M16. Others, particularly those on my local SWAT team, use subguns. It's the individual, not the weapon, that kills. Speaking of which, one of my acquaintances killed two people with a fork earlier this year. Third is in critical.

Let's be honest, will putting a foregrip on it, some stupid ass scope, a new ghost ring tacticool seek-and-destroy glow-in-the-dark ironsight or muzzle break really make it any more suitable defense weapon? It's all cosmetic. In fact I don't understand why people argue against the prohibition of these toys seeing as they are cosmetic, yet masturbate over the idea of putting them on their stock weapon. Stock parts are stock parts it doesn't matter how cool your rifle looks so as long as the same parts are still inside of it. Even if some dumbass decided to put a match barrel on his AR-15, it would still be a shitty target rifle. The only people who should consider modding their weapons are hunters and professional paper terrorists, anyone else is quite simply wasting their time. It's such bullshit and it really pisses me off, I'm so sick and tired of people who take guns so seriously and make it their purpose for being. I come home from a job mixing concrete I carry a stock HK VP70. I don't need a god damned laser-module or some sort of faggoty hand grip or slide release, I mix concrete for a fucking living. If someone feels they need something that tacticool they're just doing it for the novelty, if someone feels that a Mosin Nagant is an effective weapon and used by anyone other than child soldiers in African tribal conflicts they need a good ass beating. I'm getting really tired of people disagreeing with me without even putting up some god damned motherfucking logic or reasoning behind their argument. A stock gun with shit on it is still a stock gun and will shoot like a stock gun. Precisely shaped metal is precisely shaped metal, there's nothing special about those tacticool trend guns that keep popping up as the years pass.
You still haven't put my mind at ease :(

That's just it, I deadlifted 500 pounds when I was in high school football in 1990. This requires a shitload of grip strength, to hold on to such a heavy weight as you lift it from the ground. I obviously cant pull that anymore but I still got a lot of grip strength, certainly more than is needed to squeeze a puny six pounds of trigger pull. Double taps and continuous fire are no problem for me. You don't always need faggot ass mods to make up for what you lack in your naturally feminine, weak hands. Go do some liftin faggot have a few bud lights maybe you'll grow some hair on your chest. Nothing tacticool about it it's an affordable, accurate pistol that gets the job done. Actually hate to burst your bubble but "our boys overseas" actually very often have and use that tacticool shit and WAY MORE. A lot of them are issued that "tacticool" shit, like the CCOs, the PAQ4(IR lasers), and I know plenty of people that used the foregrips and shit. I'd have to somewhat agree most people do put WAY to much into their ARs/M4s.
I find my M-16 to be decent enough for any job at hand (hunting, target, defense) in its stock A-1 configuration with just the factory 3x telescope on the handle for good measure.
That being said, I don't think an M4 with the foregrip, laser, an optic or Eotech, flip up sights and oversize grips is really overboard.
However, just as people pimp out their cars, people pimp out their guns.
AprenticeChemistBITCHS

Well you are right lavared while having an M4 with those accessories, is not really overkill. What is the point of IR lasers?
Target designation for crews on gunships/tanks? Shooting with night vision equipment? Causing minor eye damage to random pedestrans and passerby's without their knowledge?
Causing minor eye damage to random pedestrans and passerby's without their knowledge?
^
This made me laugh so hard. But I'm weird.
I find lasers to be useful, but not all that much. To my understanding an IR laser would allow you not to be seen by the enemy?
But seriously, the small laser dot is so hard to see after 30-40 mts without the assistance of an optic that I would mostly relegate it for target shooting with a specialized pistol.
And then it doesn't make you more accurate than you inherently are. Trigger jerk and other bad habits are not corrected by a laser.

Actually the IR lasers are visible pretty far, I remember being able to see them out to 100+meters. Of course that is with NVG, the cool thing about the PAQ4 laser is that you see the actual beam so you can easily follow it out to where the target is. As far as civilian use id say they are fucking extremly useless, because there is no situation I can think of you'd need one because you have to have NVG to see it.
I was looking at cheaperthandirt magazine I just got and im definitely looking at getting a nice 90rd magazine for an M4 when I get my M4, that's one thing I can almost bet would be on any ban list he might have.
Anyone recomend really good but decently priced magazines for ARs and AKs?

Indeed, I want to pick up some of the USGI AR/M16 mags with the green followers, ammoman.com used to have them but appearently he's not carrying them anymore. Anyone else happen to know a place to get them that has good prices? I can google around but I was wondering if anyone knew a good place off the top of their head.

Relax. The new administration will be too busy cleaning up the mess made by Republicans over the past eight years to fuck with the Second Amendment in general, or any federal gun laws in particular.
You have more to fear from individual states.

No I don't, I live in a gun friendly state.

You don't actually expect elected officials to focus on the real issues, do you?
