So I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop (movie). Fucking badass. Im also a fan of Venus Wars and of course, Akira. Im just wondering what else is out there that would be similar to Cowboy Bebop? Don't know if this is considered anime, but afro samurai was also pretty fuckin' sweet. Anyways, some recommendations would be much appreciated.

samurai champloo is often compared to cowboy bebop. hell, they're both created by the same guy.
it's basically samurai action awesomeness set to a funk/hip hop soundtrack. worth checking out, i think. the first episode is probably one of my favorites out of any anime.
a lot of people also compare trigun to cowboy bebop. i say, meh, it's got that space western feel to it anyway...
there's also good ol' outlaw star. another one of my favorite series, but i will say that gene starwind is nowhere near as kewl as spike spiegel. nowhere.
those are always the first ones that come to mind when somebody asks me for something like cowboy bebop.
it's kinda odd, but not very surprising, that a lot of people that come in here looking for anime usually mention that they've just seen cowboy bebop and want something similar...
nobody ever says "hey, i've just seen rec. anybody know more like this series?" :p
first, let me say i came in here to bitch because there's a huge gigantic list i had alot of time into helping create
that said.
this is also the first thread i've seen in a long time to have almost a paragraph in two consecutive posts.

i never would watch the tv show in english, something about it turned me off. but on a whim i bought the dvd for like 5 bucks from sundevildvd... needless to say, i now have seen and own the series. and bebop the movie is always a must for someone's first anime, it's going to be something timeless... and already somewhat is
like i said though, there's a hugeeeee list in the top sticky, just look up the genre you'd be interested in
there's tons and tons of titles, and there's still plenty more if you go out looking in the right places, i've seen probably 2/3s of what's on that list... and it's only a fraction of what i've watched over the years, but i can honor that everything on the list is worth watching, even if it's something i wouldn't like
also... go look for anime that isn't on the list. new series are coming out constantly
i haven't been watching new anime in probably 2-3 years. so i'm sure there's plenty i need caught up on myself
feel free to add to the list as you see fit, everyone in the community is welcome and encouraged to help
hell, if you have any friends into anime, have them join us.

i keep meaning to update that thread, but 'tis a monumental task.
actually, i've been going through the links in that thread because i know that about half of them are dead. probly going to delete a lot of posts in there as well...

rec is a romantic comedy type series. still, it's got some interesting characters and each episode is less than ten minutes long.
it's another one of my favorite series, but in a completely different category from what you're probly looking for.

Well of course people are not going to ask that.
It seems to me that romantic comedies make up 45% of all anime/manga. You would have to be deaf, dumb, and blind to miss them. And if you were, wtf are you trying to read manga for?
