So Obama is officially the next president of the United States, and for one I am happy with this. I supported Obama through this election and even did a little volunteer work for the campaign. It doesn't matter to me if you love Obama or not, and frankly the people who do not like him, it is now your job to watch this guys every move.

My problem with what I hear from anti-Obama folks, is that they constantly say he won't bring upon any real change. It is as if Obama is the only one responsible for fixing this nation. I personally cannot remember a time when Obama said he personally will fix everything that is wrong with our country. I did many times hear Obama say that we the people need to stand up and try to make things better.

Obama was a community organizer in Chicago and learned how to motivate people to fix the mess they helped create. Maybe a leader that people rally behind, a leader that can motivate people, and a leader who admits to mistakes is a true leader and not just a president.

Again, McCain or Obama it is now time that we the people of America better our country and make it great for future generations again. Let's not go the way of every great power before us. Get off the petty bickering and do something to make the US a better place.

Your right. The only way this can work is if everyone gets involved but its not just about people getting involved...its about getting the one's who are already involved out of the picture. That's are main problem. I don't believe Obama is going to change things not just because I believe he's just like all the other politicians but also because I think it would be physically impossible for him to do so even if he wanted to change things. Getting rid of Bush is only a minor portion of the problem. What about the NSA, CIA, Federal Reserve, FDA, and whatnot? These are the institutions that are keeping the cogs moving. Not to say they need to be dismantled but the people who are currently running these institutions need to get the hell out. We know what we want but we don't know how to get what we want because we grew up in a time of prosperity. But now it's time to wake up and actually do something. I joined the Campaign for Liberty and I'm trying to become actively involved. I'm also heavily studying History and Political Science to get a better understanding of where we started off and where we are right now as well as where we are heading. I study the development of our current system to better understand how it works and the problems involved in it. I'm still a novice but I actively try to broaden my education. Not just by going to school but by doing my own learning. I read up on how the Fed works, I read up on things like the electorial College, and whatnot. Everyone else has their own way of doing it but my advice is to learn this stuff yourself. Don't just read up on forums and argue against others. Research using credible sources and actually learn. Once you understand the problems thats when you begin to act to try to solve those problems. Most people just assume they know, and act on that. Learn and make sure you know what your talking about, and then act in accordance.

My problem with what I hear from anti-Obama folks, is that they constantly say he won't bring upon any real change.

This attitude is to be expected from the children who did not get their way this time around. Forget that it is defeatist, childish, and apathetic to assume Obama will not make this a better country, before he is even given a chance to, and realize that certain elements in this country will never like him, and not b/c he is black, but b/c their guy didn't win.

These children effectively have taken their ball, and gone home.

It's only childish if you make predictions which have no logic. Part of my life, is understanding Humanity as a whole and studying where we are heading. I'm going to say at this point its a 50/50 shot as to whether Obama will take us to the first tiny step in the right direction. This all depends on whether he claims to be who he says he is or whether he is just like another Bush, McCain, Regan, Clinton, and whatnot. Please never forget what Bush preached to us prior to 9/11....he sounded like a real winner of a President but look where he brought us. But all that aside, I'm going to be a realist on this one and claim that even if he tries to promote real change, which would in fact be working against the ones who want to keep the status quo....which I must say is quite a number of officials who we place our trust in, there is just way too much friction for one President to do and the problems we're facing vs the expectations of Obama are so uneven, it will more than likely rouse a disappointment for all the fanatical Obama supporters. So from a realistic standpoint this is basically what it is:

Whether Obama wants change or wants to keep the status quo (which I believe) is subjective and hotly debated but what is a fact is that everyone has placed too much faith in one person to take us in the direction we need to go in order to combat these immense changes. Change may or may not happen but if it happens it's going to be very minor, and it might not be enough to hold the supports in our country. Only time will tell how this whole thing turns out.

The status quo, in my view, is corporatism. I sometimes think that ron paul is just viral marketing by big business to promote a notoriously corrupt capitalist system that keeps poor countries poor using the IMF and World Bank to pressure foreign governments into giving up social programs and worker protections in exchange for debt relief.

Obama is rich, don't get me wrong, but he is not a businessman, if the biographies are true. He doesn't stand to profit from the contractors that, rumsfeld, cheney, and so many other crook politicians have profited from in this war against bureaucracy and war to expand markets to Iraq and elsewhere in the world. This whole false notion that government does nothing right and we should continue this dangerous trend of paying even more for private contractors which now have a profit incentive to keep the war on terror going and keep people in fear so we can spend billions to buy their security technology and contract half of our interrogation work needs to stop.

Obama may not be a businessman and he may not make profit off of it but he certainly works with people who do make profit and now that he's in the presidency he can most certainly tap into that money making scheme any time he wants. I'm not saying he's going to do it....I'm saying I believe he is going to do it because he has yet to prove to me that he is actually going to change things. Even if he managed to do everything he promised it still wouldn't change because he never once tackles the real problems. It's like he's only picking out the top part of a weed rather than actually digging into its roots to fix the problem. the problem with most people is they only read easy to find information like Obama's bestselling books or wikipedia or .gov sites or CNN and FOX. Of course if you look at those sites you going to get this pretty painted picture of what America is because thats what they want you to see. Don't look at Obama, look at the people closest to him. Look at the people closest to those people. Look at heads of the World Bank and Halliburton. Look at the Federal Reserve and really explore how it works. Look beyond what Obama wants you to find and I gurantee you that eventually you're going to find out that they're all the same. Democrats, Republicans, Democracy, socialism. The only thing that is absolute is Money and the power it holds.

It isn't so much that Obama's detractors think that he should single handedly fix everything, its that we are fed up with most of his supporters thinking he is going to. They all wander around intoxicated on "change" and cant seem to understand that it is, at best, not very much different from W.

You speak the truth though, if we want any form of positive change in this country we are going to need to take it for ourselves and it is going to take a hell of a lot more work than just voting for some guy.

Right. We need to experience self revolution first through means of education before we can ever be ready for real change.

Obama doesn't equal change at all.

Hes a bourgeois. Hes rich. His personal wealth is in the millions of dollars. He lives in a mansion. Hes a member of a liberal bourgeois political party. As such his interests and loyalty lie with his social class and preserving its power and material interests over the rest of society (capitalism). Both Republican and Democratic parties are bourgeois parties and do not want the social status quo to change.

All the talk of change is the same old phrases to dupe the working masses. It has succeeded yet again.

We'll see...

It hasn't succeeded yet.
