Radio sucks in most places because they're mostly corporate owned. The only good stations I've come across are university stations, and they only play good shit half of the time.

It has to do with advertising and getting the largest audience in the market. So they play the stuff that the most people want to hear. The larger the audience, the more they can charge advertisers for time, because more people will hear the spots.

The local station here is all i would ever listen to on the radio, the uni they broadcast from has a pretty awesome staff and schedule. Never know what you might hear, plus no commercials and npr news. Nice to hear jazz in the afternoon, old skool techno at night, ambient on the weekends, classical in the mornings, and a weekly reggae show all on one station. :)

if ya dont have any good college stations around, online radio would be the best bet.
