View Full Version : New Gun

Taurus Model 82S revolver I acquired today for around $380 bucks.
The finish is mostly intact, except for areas of deep pitting.
This one's registered and everything, so I'm taking it to the gunsmith tomorrow to have it made more presentable.
Possible modifications will include Hogue slip-on grips, refinishing (glossy blue), and I don't know what else you guys would suggest.
Is it worth the trouble to fit this one with new sights, optic mounts and a compensator or should should I just have it refinished and left as- is?
Thanks,
LavaRed

Fuck yer.
Put some nuclear sights on it and a big fuck off scope, maybe even a laser.
Should paint it camo too....

Shit damn I wished Australia wasn't so anal when it comes to firearms.
Nifty new piece LR.
If you're going to get it refinished anyways due to pitting why not have it all taken care of and see after the fact whether or not you like or dislike it well enough to put on new optics?
I'm looking at the purchase soon of two revolvers -- come my 21st birth in January -- both Ruger New Vaqueros, one .357 w/5.5" barrel, the second a .45LC with 7.5" barrel, both with stainless finish.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the new toy!

This one's registered
Why on Earth would you do that?

Indeed. Also, why would you want to have a revolution in your country and adopt the same system the USA has? Open corruption isn't as bad as hidden corruption.

I'll have to respectfully disagree. When the politicians can get away with being openly corrupt, it typically belies a system in which the people are afraid of their government.
Was the gun registered before you bought it, or did you yourself have to register it?

I've been wanting to put a scope on my 44 S&W for a while, i had a ghetto rigged laser on it for about 30 minutes one time too. I'd say new grips would be all you'd need, and some cosmetic work if you wanted it

Previous owner had registred it.
I actually bought it from one of our employees, which was in need for money and was selling his gun for it. We lent him an old S&W .38spl with 4" barrel to use now.
I would have just lent him the money, but he insisted on it. Says he's not going to start getting into debt at such an old age.
I think it was a fair trade.

In some countries the gangsters keep them openly in check, so you can see what's happening. In other countries, the gangsters keep them in check secretly, and you hardly know what's going on.
Politicians are gangsters anyway. The political world is organised crime. Which is why you have gangs and cults controlling governments. They make alliances amongst themselves.

Stay away from gangs, cults, and politics. Don't join them.

Certainly. But the real question is, how to build a system without corruption?
Wouldn't you like to fix the system too?

Jesus said:
You must love one another as I have loved you.
I like that quote. It's in the Bible, but I don't know if He really said it.

I live by that, or try to. Sex isn't love, love isn't sex.
They are not necessarily the same thing.

Pray, meditate, and try and purify your mind. Be nice, be good, don't wish bad on anyone, don't wish bad upon yourself.
That's what I do.
The way people see you might not be the way you are. Some people do bad and think they are doing good because they are unaware of how other people feel. Empathy is good.
Hurt nothing, harm no one.
I like your way of thinking. I wish I could be a good person you know? To find internal peace.
But so much injustice around me stirs my anger. I can not help it.

Did Gold n Green just nonuple post? It seems like there were posts inbetween some of those by someone else that were deleted but I don't know if that's the case or he just nonuple posted a rant.

Congrats on your new gun, so at the end of the day you bought a Taurus from one of your employees but then ended up giving him a S&W at least for the time being, coulnd't you just have kept the S&W?

Not really because:
A) He needed the money. It was the best way of making charity without making him feel indebted for it.
B) It would be injustice to take a man's only weapon and leave him unarmed.
So no, it wasn't possible.
And the Smith was very beaten up in the finish anyways.

Thanks, but I am unaware of this record. Those bastard double face pictures seem to not work on my anymore. I hear you can fix them with looking at flourescent light, and also by going crosseyed, focusing each eye individually on the photo.
