Could I take her to small claims court over this? It was a 1300 dollar macbook that got broken, I ended up having to buy a new one and pay to have the hard drive and memory replaced. This also inconvenienced me for school, as exams were coming up the next week.

The judge will ask why you had a laptop out in a bar where people are supposed to drink.

If the place had WIFI or something that gives you a reason to have your laptop out and that person was being negligent then Hell yeah she better fucking pay.

If this happened at your house then sue them. Just say that when you gave her a beer you said "take care of that laptop over there" and she fucked up anyway.

It doesnt matter what was going on with the laptop. Someone didnt pay attention enough to prevent themselves from damaging someone else's property. Lawsuit!
