If you want to say "Chekhov was a deep psychologist, as well (in addition to being other things).": Чехов был также глубоким психологом.

If you want to say "[Someone else] was a deep psychologist, and Chekhov was too." then you use тоже.

But, I don't know if "psychologist" is the word you want...if you mean philosopher: Чехов был также глубоким философом."

Wait for a native speaker just to be sure though.
