This is the first time I've ever come in here before, so if this kind of thread is frowned upon, don't blame me. I didn't do it.

Anyways, I just found this pic, it's the picture of my truck when the last owner owned it. I basically purchased the vehicle from looking at this picture.

http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/data/500/IMG_1339.JPG

Best fucking truck I'll probably ever own. Apparently the newer Tacomas aren't as good, as the '04's were the best ones (mines an '03).

I don't have pictures of all my bikes, but I have pictures of a fair few.

My 1993 YZF750SPE. This old girl features a lot of racekit parts: C/R gearbox, titanium crank and rods, 13.5:1 with drop forged pistons (she doesn't do pump fuel anymore), 38mm Keihin Flatslide carbs with an accelerator pump, adjustable ignition, racekit spec cams, revalved and resprung front and rear suspension, FZR1000 oil cooler. She's putting out around 135rwhp now. It's not a huge amount by any means, but she's a fucking lovely bike to throw a leg over.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/brownbomber/100_1006.jpg

2004 Aprilia RS250. I bought her with a seized engine and rebuilt it. I machined billet powervalves, cleaned up the ports, expansion chambers, rejetted, braided stainless brakelines, crash bungs, new powervalve covers with a breather to let the gunk out into a catch bottle(plumbed it into the catch bottle from the coolant, so it will clean out the lines for me), single ring pistons out of a TZ250. She goes great, I'm just too ashamed to ride it until I paint her matte black.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/brownbomber/00005.jpg

1965 BSA A65 Spitfire. Now she sits at 768cc with a dry clutch. The spec sheet is too long to list unless someone really wants to know. Not even the engine cases are standard (I cast my own). The fuel tank is aluminium btw, polished.

GM speedway bike top end mated to a Norton gearbox and given an oil pump (speedway bikes run total loss). Everything made by the wanker typing.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/brownbomber/MT_01.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21/brownbomber/MT_04.jpg

Yamaha TRX850 I'm building for a guy. It's now 920 and putting out a fair bit more hp than it deserves to. I hate it though.

This lunacy is in my genetics by the way.

my baby (my 3rd a4): 2006 audi a4 2.0t 6-speed manual quattro, s-line (18" wheels, suspension, S4 body, special leather parts)

alot of blood sweat and tears went into this 2002 a4 1.8t quattro tiptronic, has a K04 turbo, revo programming, forge 007 DV, afe air filter, rs4 motor mounts, and some audio stuff) put 50k miles ontop of the 50k that were already on it

my first a4, got it new, was a 2004 1.8t quattro tiptronic, no mods, was totaled when somebody ran a red light in a ford ranger going 50+ mph, i was relatively unscathed. put 36k miles on her
http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/112670/oldschool.jpg

did this on the stretch of i-35w towards denton, tx after getting its 15k service, kept bouncing off the speed limiter.

gauge setup i had for my 2002 a4. ti spiked to 21-23 psi around 4k and it tapered off to 18 by redline, was building boost in the picture when i took it. that K04 spools quick since its so small, falls flat towards the redline

I've done a lot of work to it - put on a fancy cylinder head, a good flowing and good sounding exhaust, half decent interior, an amazing sounding music system, and many other things.

When I stuck it on the rollers to tune the car up, it produced about 55 HP at the fly (~46 at the wheels) and 70 lb ft of torque. When it came out the factory it supposedly had 44HP at the fly and 50 lb ft. Not too shabby for a 998cc engine designed in the '40s!

Ambers are only on when I put the interior lighs on, it's those shitty yellow DRLs that annoy me. Plus, I don't have a seatbelt chime. It's awesome having a car that knows when to shut the fuck up. I could hit about 170hp with about a grand into the car, but that's money I'd rather spend on a bike. The way I see it now, it's an alright car and i dont wanna spend any more than I have.

yep, i'm pretty sure on the 'tex they have the codes to reprogram those drls, does your car give you bulb out warnings? i was going to do led drl's but could never find the right resistor to stop the bulb out warning, and it can do the fault code search, event things that dont trigger a MIL. very useful tool. a friend of mine has the previous gen jetta with the vr6 5-speed in it. do you have that weird ass tone when the keys are in and the drivers door is open?

also, i went from 200 hp to 250 hp and 207 ft/lb to 300 ft/lb. revo program, dyno tuned. got a discount because i got my brakes done at the same time. $400 for the program $400 for new pads and rotors all around. woulda costed $800 at the stealership for the brakes alone

Old pics from when I first got it, 03 Neon SXT, 5-speed manual. It's got a 2.0L i4 that puts out a whopping 132HP & 130ftlb of tq. But hey, it only costs ~20$ to fill up now, and I get 28~ mpg driving to and from school in traffic every day :D

The only "mods" I've done are shaved back/ debadged front logo, painted the ugly chrome trim on the front flat black, and I removed the intake resonator a while ago >_>

I have managed to collect 5 boys too.

I regards to the high five. That night of the prom, (notice the umbrella) It came a downpour. A truck got sideways in the road. I have antilock brakes, slotted rotors, twin piston calipers (wilwood) and 50 series tires. he stopped, the car behind him didnt, the cop behind that car didnt either. He spent most of his time stressing till I came home from work at 3 am. to tell me. Its still a good memory though...its just a car. I cant replace my sons. Its all good. Funny, thats the same tune I sung to the dad of the boy that couldnt stop in a down pour. He was shocked to hear me say it too, but its true.

Oh ok, cool.

Here is the manual for the old girl.

Treat her right man, a new piston and gasket kit is inexpensive, as are a set of expansion chambers and a jet-kit for the carb.

Is she a 650 or 1000?

If it's the 1000 you need the heads and cams from a TLR man. COupled with a big bore exhaust, cleaned up ports and corrected fuelling, that gives a fairly quick little bike.

Have you checked your fuelling since you fitted the slip-on? You may be alright, but she may also be running a little lean.

That's what you need man. Give the ports a bit of a clean up, bigger bore exhaust and the cam. She'd be a bona-fide traffic destruction tool then. You could get your standard cams built up and reground for a fraction of that price too if you don't have the cash for billet cams. :)

Horsepower is fun.

No money, and no time. I do have a basic idea of what I want to put in though. I'm probably going to go with a 331 stroker, and a T-5 transmission out of a 95 mustang. I have no clue about intake, heads, or cam though. All I know is that I want to make about 450 HP.

I'm moving down to Essex so that I can work on a portfolio to get into design courses at (hopefully Coventry) university. The Datsun's out of MOT and tax so it's going to an enthusiast for about fifty quid.

I've got my eye on a Datsun Laurel that's not far from my parents' house though...
http://www.classicpassion.nl/img/his/large/datsunlaurel2.jpg

That's a proper cruiser. All it needs is wire wheels and whitewall tyres and dropping about two inches and it's perfect. Maybe a white vinyl roof.

Man if I were you, I would seriously check out NOT putting a v8 in it. The 2.3 is Siamese bored and you can make v8 power out of it with "bolt on stuff" Swap out a ranger head with the 8 plugs, throw a stock or mod. turbo and computer from a t-bird in there and kiss your favorite tire man cause your going to be seeing him allot. The power to weight ratio far out weighs the v8.

Thanks.
Yeah, I'm really kind of torn between the two, but still leaning towards the V8 because I don't care much for the sound of a 4 cylinder. I've been thinking about an SVO swap or a Thunderbird TurboCoupe swap, But I don't like turbos due to the fact the ricers kind of killed them. I also like more low end torque vs high end horsepower. If I build up the 4 (more then it already is) it will probably be NA as would the V8. I probably wouldn't use the 8 plug head as I've heard bad things about them powerwise and apparently they don't like carburetors.

Right now, from intake to exhaust, It has the stock 2 bbl carb mated t a Offenhauser 4bbl intake with a Mr. Gasket 2 bbl to 4 bbl adapter, block is bored .60 over (according to the machine shop, might be less because that sounds like a bit much), 94 Ranger roller cam for more low end torque, stock ignition, Long tube header and no cat dumping into a flowtech Warlock race muffler.

Fuck no, they're called steelies because they're plain rolled steel rims that you get from the factory, usually on base models, not billet aluminium aftermarket rims. It's got nothing to do with this shitty little 'black rims' trend that has arisen recently. It's a seperate trend, and it's just a coincidence that you can get steelies that are also black. They don't just come in black though. Silver is very common. You can also get them as aftermarket, where they've been cosmetically modified, deep dished, etc.

that's because it is easier aswell as cheaper to have some good looking, lightweight steelies as opposed to having to buy salty "racing" or "high performance" wheels.

"Steelies" refers to all black rims then? The "I lost ma hubcaps" look?

I see.

Actually the difference between "steelies" and "I lost ma hubcaps" is that the second is made up of one to three hubcaps missing. then if you loose all four hubcaps you are rolling on steelies.

I can't quite decide whether I prefer the ragtop to a normal 3-door shell, but very good choice in car and wheels sir.

They look much better with the roll bar taken off, but I suppose for a car that you're actually going to drive it's a pretty important safety feature. Not much of a problem with show cars.

Good to see one that isn't white, either.

My mate's stepdad has a silver clipper with a blue softtop, looks pretty nice but it's been off the road for nearly ten years now. He promised that he would give it to my mate when he finishes his degree though, and I said I'd help him restore it

There's one around York with slightly pearlescent purple paint with a white softtop and Ronal Turbos, it looks absolutely ace. Don't know if the Turbos would fit without modification.

I would love to own both a hardtop and soft top MK1. My next purchase may be a MK2 GTI though. Should probably get a legitimate daily though instead of something I'll want to be a project.

I originally hated the roll bar but then I realized it's kind of unique so I came to like it. Not only that but its one of the most important structural parts of the car. I've seen detatchable ones though that had claimed to be just as strong. Plus... the rollbar can be fun too. hahaha Something to hang onto.

I can't wait to actually start dumping money into my car.

List to do right now, this order.

By first few shows of the year:

195/45/14's Toyo Proxe TR1 tires.
Either H&R Ultra Low 1's or VMAXX coils.
then replace all the bushings for the suspension and pick up some 15mm spacers to fit the rear.
Deep Duck bill
Euro bumpers if I can't track down the trim to finish my aluminum NA bumpers, would be polished of course.

When affordable:
Rear disc conversion
rebuild an ABA 8v 2.0 add a 268 cam, maybe run lower compression pistons, then after it's broken in and running smooth and reliable possibly turbo.
once the engine bay is apart, I want to check and go over everything, new mounts and everything, maybe a few deletes.

Too late for an SP i bought this about 2 hours ago

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/christianh/zx7r1.jpg

First impressions are it's fecking huge and heavy!! Couldnt open it up the roads were iced up.

Apparently the zx7's do 171mph according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kawasaki_ZX-7R_and_7RR that surprised me i thought they'd do about 150ish... i think the early 1's do as theyre 100bhp whereas the newer one's are 120bhp. I wont be verifying the top speed cos A im not that good on bikes and B i think doing that on a bike is suicidal.

lol!! i might have more pics i know i used to but will need to look.

glad there's atleast 1 other grale fan. i know it's a cliche but you when you read reviews of them and they say the handling, especially steering wheel feedback and steering input, being like no other, it really is that good.

even the most minute of steering wheel inputs translated to a noticeable change of steering direction and this seemed to happen instantaneously. the outright grip it had was fantastic too i recall very rarely ever losing grip or spinning the wheels and trust me i hammered it sometimes!

its the only car ive had that felt greater than the some of its part it had a soul so to speak.

however the rust problems they're reknowned for also is true; from the outside the bodywork was great, i checked the underside when i first got it and although not perfect it was ok. however 2 years of all year use and the underside started rotting quite badly n thats why i sold it in the end for a very silly cheap price :(

it had led a pampered life before me always garaged and only used for hill climb competitions. i did look after it but alas it these cars dont really stand up that well to everyday all weather use and being kept outside.

sorry to chuff on but i loved that car. doubt i'll ever own another too, have you seen the prices now  jesus had mine from 04-06.

also bit of a puzzle for ya if you can be bothered :D

considering the age of the car and the integrale model history, what doesnt make sense about the car? the clue's are in the pics themselves. the car had some MAJOR work done, all of it not obvious at 1st but as i said it's in the pics.

Awesome!

If you get that, you HAVE to post lots of photos, inside and out. Old engineering really is the best - the ways of doing stuff with the available technology was unbelievably smart.

I will, don't worry!

Quite funny today, was working on the mini and an old woman comes up to me, asks if it's the real deal, and then says how old cars are amazing because you can actually work on them. She then hobbled off down the road.

Whenever we (me and my dad) would park up in our Land Rover ambulance, we'd often get old people asking questions. It seems like almost everyone over 60 has at one time owned or driven a Land Rover. Some want to sit in it and have a look...

My mate wants an MG as his first car.

I'm telling him its a bad idea.

"Lets see, who's alfa is that in your driveway?"
'my mums'
"okay, has it ever broken on you?"
'yeah, like four times in the 18 months we've had it'
"Get used to it"

^ a real MG or a modern one?

The rebadged Rovers aren't unreliable really.

Real MGs are unreliable. That's part of what the flat-cap brigade call 'charm'.

my MG/Austin Healey wasn't unreliable for the short time it was on the road. Don't think it was a fan of the winter though, cold starts with an old battery were a bit of a bugger. However, it was so light I could push it out of my drive and 15m down the road to a little hill, give it a shove jump in and bump start it.

^ mine was.

Well, it wasn't that bad to be honest.

It broke down twice in one year of driving it regularly, but it needed constant tinkering and often didn't run quite right. It always had at least one thing that wasn't working properly or at all.

That said, it was the most charming thing I've ever driven. I'd own another one in a snap.

I know what you mean about not running right, mine was fitted with twin dellorto frd's (no idea why they are the same size as SU HS2's) so it would stall at idle (had to keep the revs up) until it warmed up and then tick over a 1500rpm.

I think it was because the carbs had no idle adjustment with the choke so the only way to stop it choking before it warmed up was to set the idle really high, still didn't work in the winter though!

I choose to gloss over that kinda stuff though because it was the tits caning it down a country road with top down.

Here's the bike I got my girlfriend for christmas. Repainted it, replaced the wheel and headset bearings and adjusted everything up so it works nicely. Cost about £100 with paint and the few replacement bits I needed.

At the end of the summer she's going to spain for three months on her uni course, I'm going to strip it down to bare metal and completely de-rust the frame, and get everything re-chromed, then modify the frame to accept modern side-pull brakes (all it needs is the little brackets welding on the frame, it's got single-point caliper brakes at the moment and they're shit).
I'll also modify the frame to accept a dropout so I can use a more modern six-speed derailler, it's got three-speed Sturmey Archer hub gears which are naff (especially as the bike is quite heavy, it's a butted steel frame). This means I'll probably have to use modern aluminium rims rather than the chromed steel ones, which won't look as nice, but will be far FAR lighter and I won't have to use shit felt brake blocks (have to use felt or cork pads to stop the chrome wearing off) so the brakes will be far better too.

^ that's a Banshee Amp isn't it?

How much did that set you back? I've never done much dirt jumping, my mate used to do it, don't know what bike he had but it was pretty good fun.

Did you find it hard riding a fixie for the first time? Lots of people swear by it even for road bikes, I can understand BMXs and dirt jump bikes being fixed gear but for road bikes it seems pretty daft unless it's a completely flat manicured road you're going on...

I'm riding a bike I put together myself (sounds more glamorous than it really is). The garage where I used to work sold bikes too, I got a Cross Crossbow frame for free (all the paint was chipped so they sent us another one! It's a hybrid-style 6061 frame so it's pretty comfortable as well as very light). Got some cheap used Shimano dura-ace wheels (cost me like £150, barely used), cheap new Shimano hollowtech chainset, then Pluto Carbon flat bars and drop stem, mid range brakes and other bits and bobs. Painted it triumph roulette green (pearl lime green) and got a funky checkered saddle. Cost me about £350 all told - if I paid RRP for the bits and the frame it would have been around £600, and that's not including the wheels which I think are about £400 RRP. A grand's worth of bike for £350 with custom paint :D

I've also got an old Haro Forum BMX which I don't use any more, there's nowhere to take it anywhere near me. It's pretty standard, it cost me £150 used which isn't bad. I didn't even have to take the brakes off as they didn't come with any :D

I should be picking up a Stingray Chopper too, for £35 that's not a bad deal. I'm thinking pimped - purple with gold wheels and furry seat - or maybe black and chrome - or maybe I'll stick a little moped engine in it and pretend I'm Paul Sr.

It is yeah. I built it to, i think it ran close to $3800 all up.

I'm running a new front rim now cause a stick destroyed my last one, just relaced the hub to a new rim.

Singlespeed is ok because I drive to jumps/trails/skatepark to ride, it's not that great to ride any distance though. The frame only weighs 2kg so you can flick it around crazily on the trails.

I have seen alot of commuters in my area running singlespeed rigids for some reason. Gears make life so much easier. Is yours rigid or hardtail?

(edit. ill elaborate later, im ridiculously hungover.)
