After I moved here to university I've been addicted to hookah. There's a wonderful little hookah bar here (Red Poppy, in Iowa City. Check it out if you're around) that has the best ambiance and music to smoke to. I love to sit with friends and pass the hoses around, blowing smoke rings at people and conversing.

So who else loves hookah?

Bong>Hookah

Although hookahs are very nice ^^

I tend to do you what you do with hookah smoke to my friends but with a nice cloud of bong smoke.

This.

Though I don't smoke anymore.

Anyways, we don't have any hookah bars here since the indoor smoking ban came into effect.

A lot of my friends sometimes call me the Hookah King.
I've been smoking Hookah for a couple years now. It started out just going every now and then to the local hookah bar. After I started at the University I attend, my friend bought his own hookah. He is now my roommate. My brother and I bought our own. We smoke probably 5 days a week and have gotten many of my friends into it.
My favorite flavors are probably margarita and tropicana.

Starbuzz really is awesome, but it's way t expensive, at least at the place I buy my tobacco from. I can get a regular brand, not sure which one because they put it in their own tubs, for $12 or I can get a thing of Starbuzz, the same size, for $22. It's just not worth the extra ten dollars to me.

You from the UK? Shit isn't it?

I think hookah bars should be exempt from the smoking ban. I can understand the smoking ban in cinemas, trains, even in nightclubs, but hookah bars? It's not as if you do anything there but smoke. If you didn't smoke, you wouldn't go there. Maybe if they made it legal only to smoke what you buy in there and it had to be smoked through their equipment, and no cigarettes, then that would be better.

That's how it is here in New York. It's the funniest thing to look at the no smoking sign and say how much you disapprove of smoking while smoke is billowing out of your mouth.

I decided to bring my friends to a hookah bar because I had not gone since I was about 14 and it seemed like a fun idea; end result: my friend wants to go like every other day now. I cannot afford it. The last time the 9 of us went the bill came out to $160...

One of my friends owns a hookah and we smoke it fairly often. My favorite flavor so far is strawberry

When I started college about 5 years ago I smoked hookah every night for the first 2-3 years. I still do occasionally but the novelty kind of wore off. You really get to hone not only your smoke ring skills but to perfect the set up when smoking that often.
I am the smoke ring king! .... well queen persay.

We each got a hookah and a few of us got the fancy flavors with the actual fruit at the top (which costs a few bucks more). I got fresh orange.:D

Plus soft drinks (they didn't have a liquor license), service charge and tip.

Hookah is most certainly one of God's greatest gifts to man, right below sex and bacon. I have grown personally fond of a bramble berry blend at the local hookah bar, Lazy Dayz.

Hey sorry I haven't replied, it's been a while since I've posted on Totse and I didn't expect this thread to get any replies.

Our hookah bar doesn't play indian music, they play all different kinds of regular chill music. It varies greatly. Last time I was in there they were playing Modest Mouse and Rufus Wainwright. It's always different.

Transparent, I'm glad somebody on Totse knows what I'm talking about. Didn't think anybody who would see this thread would have actually been inside the Red Poppy.

They have hookah's for sale there too, I just don't have anywhere where I could smoke it. Next year a friend and I are going to rent an apartment and have a hookah and a cat. Epic win.

Oh, and mint+orange is a good combo.

At the hookah bar we cillat we can play whatever music we want. The owner is the elder Lebanese guy who is really chill and he loves us. So when he's drunk he likes to get on the mic and sing afroman. I plug my ipod into the audio system and play whatever.

This.
It's a fucking blast. Tony, the proprietor, is hilarious. He loves singing to afro man and bob marley.
