Just bear with me on this one... just a really random idea I had.

I just finished watching "How it's Made" on the discovery channel and I was thinking of small to medium sized fire extinguishers modified to "Shoot" various flammable substances with little to almost no modifications to the existing fire extinguisher would be possible.

I was thinking about the chemical powder fire extinguishers for this as once they are depleted all you have to do it screw off the top empty and clean it of any fire retardant that may be left inside fill it with any fuel or fuel slurry re attach the top pressurize it using an air compressor then either make a nozzle for the front with some sort of encased cloth or fabric soaked in gas, zippo fluid, whatever or just tape a coat hanger with a wad of rags out front of it and light them.

I'll have to find an old fire extinguisher next garage sale I'm at to try it but I'd personally like to see it work.

Also I believe if you're going to go to that extent in a protest you'll have something that doesn't look too suspicious until it's used, they can be mass produced and mass used, they'd be light, on site disposable if precautions are taken (Gloves worn, wiped of prints ect ect), and can be on the cheap to make.

Just make sure you don't kill yourself(or worse someone else) accidentally or end up in the hospital now. I imagine it can work, but I can also imagine the thing exploding in your face.

keep in mind a good flame thrower will spray gas at about 1/2 gallon / second.
You need unburnt fuel to reach target to do damage to it too, i think. with a flowrate that is too small you will not be doing enough damage

do u recon a valve would stop the flame from traveling back into the bottle ps lol u can refill water extinguishers coz ppl put paint in them n graf

A one-way flow valve should prevent flames from igniting a pressurized fuel source, but if you don't know how valves work well enough to answer that question on your own, don't do it. Stay in school.

Was never planning to... I was using it in term with the original video as an improvement to their rather extreme tactics as a more feasible way to cause the most damage via en mass and be the most effective.

A protest with multiple like minded people would be rather effective... yes allot of people would get hurt but then the media would do a smear campaign against the ruling officials as there would be better ways to handle such situations ect ect.



As for the fire going back into the canister and violently rupturing it if you watch the videos you'll notice when it runs out of fuel or air it kinda just stops working all together... you get a small belch of flames and that's about the extent of it.



As for me I'll more than likely make one for use around the farm when we have brush piles to burn and I'll more than likely see about making a fuel / oil slurry, 1/4 filtered old motor oil 3/4 gas will probably be the ratios by measurement I'll just have to shake the canister before I use it because it'll probbaly few and far between that I'll need it so it'll more than likely separate.

As far as leaking, I would be wary because the valves really are not very good. They are only mildly pressure-sealed. Check how a partially-charged fire extinguisher can leak. Not safe.

On the subject of protesting though, the protesters would look like nutcases if they had flamethrowers, and it would be very easy for some idiotic, emotional hippy type to accidentally torch fellow supporters.

If there's a protest, keep it legal. If there's a riot, well... at least nothing's being done half-assed, though I disagree with the idea.

I think you're stupid because you can't type and don't know how to research things like valves, nor do you know how they function despite the fact they are a very basic element of mechanics/engineering.
